Tbf Pierce just said no offer had been made. Ornstein said that, as they understand, it isn’t happening. Doesn’t seem like anyone knows for sure.

How long do you think even a contract with Google takes to negotiate? They didn’t just show up in town with a crew on spec. Same goes for the Guess campaign. It was out there in August, would’ve been shot minimum a few months prior. As I said no excuses at all but I think the clumsy optics on this side of things have been over simplified.

Nothing about excuses. Ad campaigns with big companies take months to negotiate and set up. We already know him leaving last summer was a possibility.

When did he actually film the Google ad? It isn’t a stretch to say that the spot was likely set in motion if/when he was expecting to leave last summer. When I saw the Guess Jeans billboards all over Mexico City in late August it looked incongruous for a Liverpool player. I’d imagine that was the same thing. He was expected to be the big Real signing when those campaigns hit.
