  1. Whilst it looks the most appropriate direction, and could also be argued (to a lesser extent) against Sheff Wed and the FA, it doesn't look likely... " Is the reform retrospective? • No. It is a general principle that criminal law does not apply retrospectively. The offence will only apply to fatalities caused by gross management failings that occur after the new law comes into force on 6 April 2008. Section 27(3) makes this explicit. " and " Partial exemptions: In these circumstances, the new offence does not apply unless the death relates to the organisation’s responsibility as employer (or to others working for the organisation) or as an occupier of premises. These include: • Policing and law enforcement activities1 (section 5(2)). " NB I am not a lawyer
  2. I'm a bit concerned that after Rafa and the boys pull out all the stops against Chelsea and Barca, we're going to be overly cocky in Rome against Porto.
  3. Sc***horpe boss Nigel Adkins. I think he was an apprentice/young pro with us donkey's years ago, didn't quite make the grade. Came up through sports science/fitness side, a bit of a thinker on the game, reads a lot, over-achieving with Scunny and took them up last year, liked by the players etc. Unfortunatley, was inspired by SCS McClaren.
  4. No reason why not - they obviously brought the Extreme Makeover - Home Edition lot in for the new ground. Now if they can just get it built in 7 days ...
  5. Get Robbie and Macca back for a "Homes under the Hammer" type show. Harry Kewell obviously will do a behind the scenes in a Hospital thing, co-presenting with Rolf Harris.
  6. If you turn the overhead one upside down, it's a Ye olde knight's helmet complete with (Kop) visor. Until I noticed that I loved it. Actually I still do - hope it gets approved and built.

    No pics off me.

Without wanting to get all X-files, MI5 & Diana on this, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a deliberate strategy from Hicks somewhere in this. There seem to be lots of people who are being shown pictures, but without them being able to fully distribute them. Given that the stadium is apparently a bit 'out there', if it were published 'cold' there would be a fair few people who would be shocked and pronounce they didn't like it as the media looked for instant comment. A little customer expectation management wouldn't go amiss here. Also, if people get to know about it, and there is a general positive momentum built up before it goes in front of the council/PTB, then they'll find it more difficult to raise objections etc. Obviously he couldn't do this officially! I'm not pointing any fingers at Kev, NYR, or the like, or even their friends/contacts here. We know that Hicks and Gillett are busines and media savvy. I would be surprised if they haven't also got strategies for the net etc. Of course the logical conclusion to this is that actually Tom wants the pictures to be posted, even though he obviously can't state this and would instigate a token investigation into how these pictures got out. But if Kev and/or NYR posted the pictures, you'd actually be helping Tom in his strategy. FMac
  8. I don't think NYR can say whether we'd like it, some will hate it whatever But I'd be interested to know whether he liked it.
  9. words that can be taken in a number of ways - do you like it?
  10. Can you get us pictures (of the new, new ground designs!) before the 28th?
  11. Miners?, Triffids?, War of the Worlds type alien death machines? Oil! - That's why Hicks got involved!
  12. I thought it/they were going to be in the shape of giant Liverbird wings, with two of the corner supports in the shape of giant eagle/cormorant necks and heads glaring at the oppo's with menacing red eyes. In the great Disney tradition the walls will be made to look like twigs and straw, and all supporters will be cossetted inside the nest in down and feathers, except the away fans, who have to sit in (simulated!) bird sh*t.
  13. A win or score draw, but lots and lots of suspensions for them for the second leg, preferably to dubious decisions and/or dives from Alonso. Don't want them injured, 'cos they have to beat the mancs in the league yet.

  17. Spud, Traore, Cisse, Riise, Kewell, ...
  18. "SuperMac, Superstar! How many goals have you scored so far!"
  19. Quite like this idea
  20. Fair enough, it was just a thought. IF it were considered, I would hope it wasn't you or I that were consulted, but the families themselves. I just thought that empty seats reminded people (me) of someones death, whereas a happy young face with a scarf etc. (Thinking of the young lads going to their first game here) celebrated their life. Perhaps naming the boxes was too far. FMac
  21. Could also have another 39 named after those that died at Heysel, again with photos celebrating their lives. FMac
  22. Will there be more than 96 corporate boxes? Each box has to have an identifier anyway. They could have photo's from happier times on the walls, celebrating their lives rather than just mourning their death. Each box holder could get in touch with the relatives, thereby having a meaningful relationship with the core of the club, rather than being (purely) prawn sandwich brigade. Once these (frequently influential) people hear the individual stories, the Justice campaign could get some powerful voices. Just a thought.
  23. They obviously need to improve the commercial side of the club, but that can be done by bringing in people for that purpose. The recent running of the team; management, training facilities, etc.; and certain aspects of the club like the new stadium etc. have been handled well and I think RP largely has the support of the fans (other than a few jokes on here). There would be a real danger of throwing the baby out with the bath water.
  24. Do you reckon he'll pick up some tie sense. 'Our' americans yesterday, all had reasonably tasteful variations on red ties, including the four 'lads'. Rick as usual got dressed in the dark.
  25. As everyone is saying, only time will tell, but I'm comforted that DM seems to have done his best to get the right people... George Gillett: I don't know how to properly communicate how much care David Moores put into making this decision. He questioned us aggressively about our commitment, our passion and our willingness to help take the club forward. He wants to ensure we can re-emerge as the greatest team in the Premiership and be fully competitive in Europe. The interview process was rigorous, it was not foregone and it was not about money. It was about our passion and our understanding of the fans of this club. David is an amazing man and this club is his life. This was the most difficult decision of his life because every single fibre in his body is in this club. Tom Hicks: This club has been in David's family for fifty years and when we left his house it was a very poignant moment because there were tears in his eyes. He has agreed to be a Life President at the club and he will still be sitting in the directors' seats at Anfield.
