I’m probably not making myself clear here. I basically think that fans will always find a way to explain why we definitely need to win this game today based on another result. When in reality the two games’ results are not linked in any meaningful way. I’ll stop now though!
I understand nerves. I don’t agree that City winning/drawing/losing makes our players more nervous than they otherwise would’ve been. If that were the case, you wouldn’t see this sort of posts after all possible outcomes. You can bet your bottom dollar that the following or similar would’ve been posted had Jonjo hit the post: ” DeBruyne’s late winner makes us REALLY REALLY have to win today. ”
This argument is often used both ways. ”City won, so now we deffo need to win too” and ”City lost points, now we definitely must win!” I don’t get this sort of logic at all. You just need to win anyway.
