  1. If Moores is so keen to repair the damage he's done he should step in and buy Gillett's debt note so he can reclaim his 50% share in the club.
  2. Hammill has started 11 & been sub in 8 games all competitions for Blackpool, scoring once with one assist. His 4 yellow cards is the highest at the club! His shots on goal are the 2nd highest at the club with 13 on target, 20 off target and 1 hitting the woodwork.

Reckon Heskey is on our shortlist.
  5. I was philosophical about the goal-less draws v stoke & Fulham but the over-riding emotion tonight is anger because we are making the same mistakes game after game & not showing any sign of learning from them. Players & Management. Too deep, too slow in build up, too few players in the box, too many taking the wrong decisions & most of all - too predictable. However the optimists want to paint it, this was a huge 2 points dropped, we have to grow some b******s & go for the weaker teams right from the start. Our record in the 1st half this year is uncanny, we never get going from the off.
  6. Can't we have : -----------------------------Reina-------------------------- Babbel------------Hansen---------Lawrenson----------Kennedy A McManaman------Gerrard---------McMahon--------Kennedy R -------------------Torres-------------Beardsley-------------- Subs : Grobbelar, Smith, Johnston, Callaghan, Toshack v -----------------------Clemence----------------------------- Neal--------------Hyypia------Hughes-------------Nicol McDermott-------Souness-----Whelan---------Barnes -------------------Rush-------Dalglish----------------- Subs : Lawrence, Carragher, Keegan, Fowler, Hunt B******s to Piechnik, Babb etc
  7. The fixture list can also play a part in titles. For example, we played Everton at just about the right time when their home form was cr*p, Villa away came at a decent time when they were finding their feet, Man City also. But on the other hand we played Spurs at EXACTLY the wrong time. A week earlier under Ramos we would have cruised that game after going a goal up early. United fans are pinning their hopes on the fact that they have played us, Chelsea & Arsenal away and we all have to go to their place in the 2nd half of the season; but it doesn't always work like that, if they have to play catch-up by then I can see them dropping points.
  8. He was holding his hamstring as he came off - didn't look good
  9. Funny thing is that our rivals' fans are kicking up a much bigger fuss about their performances & results than us. Chelsea fans are starting to say that Scolari's new dawn has made them a lot more vulnerable in Europe & at home plus they are coming up short whenever they play another top side (eg Us, Mancs, Roma). The first signs of "we miss Mourinho" syndrome are emerging and they are talking about rebuilding their team - Cech not the player he was, half the team are sicknotes (Ballack, Carvalho, Drogba, Essien), Lampard isn't scoring as prolifically under the new system, Mickel is sh*te etc etc Mancs are off the pace in the league, Berbatov has upset their team pattern, Ferguson is tactically inept without Queiros alongside him, Rooney is over-rated, Ronaldo wants to leave blah blah. Their fans aren't happy Arsenal - LOL. The common theme amongst all the fans I meet is that Liverpool are very strong & organised and if we score first they expect us to go and win. They also think we are lucky and boring but they all hate the idea of playing us.
  10. I don't think last night was a sell-out, there were tickets available the day before. There's a balance to be struck between filling a stadium for the dozen or so big games in a year and having acres of empty seating for the non-premium games. Yes, this allows the club to be innovative about marketing but the fact is that we will struggle to regularly sell out a 60,000 + seater stadium without large-scale discounting which would impact heavily on the feasibilty. I would hate to see the new Anfield go corporate (if anyone has been to Wembley and seen how the FA succeeded in building an efficient money-making machine with absolutely zero atmosphere then beware) but that appears to be the model we are committed to if the thing ever gets off the ground.
  11. Keane is just working on his Xmas DVD : "Robbie's 10 Greatest Bloopers in Red". He's only got about 3 to go by my reckoning so at this rate it should be in the shops bang on schedule for the first week in December.
  12. I cannot imagine how we could be as bad as last year (mocker alert) when Rafa made the mistake of playing Momo for the full 90 mins despite the fact he was having a total nightmare and his confidence was shot to pieces even before he presented them with their goal. Playing Dossena would be a similar gamble after his horror show last time out against Spurs. According to the reports I have seen, Marseilles have a decent midfield and are a threat going forward but their defence is poor. We should take no chances, play our best side and get after them.
  13. That's a quality article on Aurelio. If only more journalists concentrated on real-life issues rather than the contrived pap they churn out day-in day-out. An article on how Dossena is coping with his move would be more interesting than "he's crap, get shot". There again, he is
  14. This is all part of the process of building a title winning side. The players & fans have to stay patient when we are struggling to break sides down but that's easier said than done. While there is this belief that it's now or never (to coin a phrase) we are bound to get edgy when you can feel points slipping away but we have to overcome this and get behind the team. For their part, the players have to develop the right mentality as well. We should have been flying into Fulham from the start but too often this season, we have failed to start well and have had to chase the game in the 2nd half.
  15. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/no...eague-liverpool He really hasn't done it this season off the bench so what does he expect?
  16. They were home to Stoke ffs. Rooney's got a cold (chest infection lol) he's not injured. Ferdinand has a back injury which is convenient because it won't show on a scan. And of course, Ferguson has no track record of pulling players out of friendlies has he? I bet both play in their next game while Gerrard will be out of the Fulham game because he genuinely is carrying an injury.

  19. Talking abouts rats leaving the sinking ship - this from today's daily mail Liverpool's Rick Parry has been offered the chief executive role on the 2018 World Cup bid and will decide today whether to accept the post. It is understood Parry, whose surprise position on the five-strong short-list was revealed by Sports Agenda last Friday, was the unanimous choice of the selection panel, who recognised he had a lot more direct football experience than the other candidates. The job also gives him a welcome escape route out of Anfield, where his future has been a matter of speculation throughout the ownership fiasco. if he has applied for the job, been interviewed etc then you would imagine he will accept. What do we make of that? Ian Ayre to join the board? Rafa happy that his nemesis has gone? Parry knows a takeover is looming? No more ticketing fiascos or player contract c**k-ups? Who will be our new scapegoat? The possibilities are endless
  20. The media are making a big splash about Stevie G being forced to attend the England camp and be checked out by their medical team. This is being widely interpreted as Capello gets tough with Liverpool because the club & Gerrard are feigning an injury. Yet Rooney & Ferdinand drop out, no problem. Terry misses last England midweek game yet plays for Chelsea on the weekend - no problem. B*******s
  21. Hello, Today I had a conversation with a staff member from the Royal Bank of Scotland who told me the RBS ‘very recently’ sent confirmation to both Tom Hicks & George Gillett by way of formal letter, stating there will be no new refinancing or restructuring of any loans after July 2009 & they have until July 2009 to settle their current outstanding accounts, or they face massive penalties. The RBS, who will officially be partially nationalized within 1 month, held face to face talks with Hicks & Gilletts legal representatives in London 3 weeks ago. They advised both teams that the stance the bank is now taking is due to the new guide lines that have been set by the Government & which they are going to have to adhere too. Subsequently they are no longer in a position to help. They advised that unless they can find a guarantor to cover their outstanding loans, they would demand all accounts to be settled in full by the deadline set, which is July 09’. The reason its July next year & not January is because Hicks decided to use his final card which was to enact a clause that gives the pair a final 6 months. Hick’s then held talks with the newly taken over Merrill Lynch & his advisors from the Bank of America told him his best plan of action would be to sell up lock stock & barrel. From what I have read, seen & heard, Hicks has reluctantly agreed to this, but with the proviso he retains a percentage of the club & can remain on the board & that’s the sticking point with the mystery buyer, who most presume to be Al Maktoum. Source http://forums.thisisanfield.com/viewtopic....7&start=275 This is courtesy of RAWK from yesterday but it ties in with a briefing I heard (posted earlier in this thread) that RBS global banking & markets have taken the blame for the bank's losses and have been scaled back - there are now reports that this division is shedding 3000 jobs. It is part of their strategic recovery plan that they exit from top-end lending (£200m-700m was mentioned). That's not to say that G&H won't be able to refinance elsewhere but so far as RBS are concerned, the signs are that they will not want to roll over the debt
  22. Just like to add, that when Skretl is back he should go straight into the team at centreback and play Agger left back for the rest of the season. Lawrenson used to play left back (brilliantly) when we had Hansen & Gillespie in the middle. Danny would be great in that position and we would be a stronger side both in attack & defence with a consistent back 4 of Arbeloa/Carragher/Skretl/Agger

  24. Agree 100%. Cavalieri 5 - mistake for the 2nd, question marks about his judgement, but still looks 10 x the keeper Itanje will ever be Degen 5 - Hmm, decent going forward but out of position constantly and doesn't close down or tackle Hyypia 6 - bad mistake for the first goal, passing out of defence was poor (although no-one was showing for the ball), good with his head as usual & scored but dodgy on the ground Agger - 6 - dozed off again for the 1st and not as commanding as before his injury Dossena 1 - hopeless, an LFC career-ending performance El Zhar 7 - did his best, some awful passes but linked up well with anyone who could be a&sed to support Plessis - 5 - scored but a half-soaked display, doesn't work anywhere near hard enough, weak & slow Lucas - 7 could/should be dominating far more but at least he put himself about and managed to find a red shirt occasionally Babel 7 - marked closely but showed flashes of skill & class and some passion, more so than most. Always a threat. Ngog 4 - maybe an off day but hardly produced anything of note the entire game Torres - 6 - off the pace 1st half but started to get into the game more in the 2nd before being subbed, he can be excused Xabi 8 - my man of the match despite playing a quarter of the game. Instantly brought composure & touch and drove us forward.
