  1. Who are the other Villa players that score High ? A Young ?
  2. Absolutely we need pacey wide players who can do this (preferably with a good scoring average too) - this is what people have noticed and called many names from "winger" to "ball carrier " to "desequiliberate" to whatever We need two players who can do this consistently for us to move up a level. You cannot pass a ball through a well drilled defense often enough to win the league, but if you have a player who can regularly beat 2-3 players in their own box- then you put fear in the opposition which leads to mistakes, and holes in their defensive formation, these are the things Torres/Gerrard and Xabi can exploit. You're bang on with the Chelsea comparison though.... where are we going to find players of that ilk in this day and age ?
  3. sir, ladies and gentlemen of the forum I submit to you that - Gerrard is currently outplaying Rooney at his own game, and Rooney is considered a Striker/forward, ergo Gerrard is now a forward/striker
  4. statistically more goals are scored from shorter faster moves - this gave rise to the Houllier approach ( which ironically I think Rafa is better at) and route one football. From open play I believe we can beat anyone, the trick going forward is learning how to open a packed well rehearsed defense
  5. Gerrard is a striker, and getting Barry means he can stay there - also getting barry means we can play 433 and not miss Babel in short getting Barry gives strength to the midfield and allows us to raise more cash for " the player Babel should be" I think we'll keep Alonso
  6. vibe ... vibe ...viiiiibe he's got that vibe ... vibe ...viiiiibe
  7. There were 2 parts to that statement 1 - we need man u to drop points - that's 2 draws or 1 loss and a draw ( ok seems possible) 2 - we need to win every game .... (here's hoping )
  8. you mean movement helps I'm shocked !!!
  9. we still need to win every game and hope Man U drop 4 points !!!!
  10. Well we both have Arsenal, and they have Man City and Villa - here's hoping
  11. Hope so, really hope so - but we need the mancs to lose one and draw one for us to have it in our own hands
  12. By winning all the remaining games
  13. you never know portsmouth and villa could get something against them too
  14. SHAME there's the international break coming up - we're on a roll
  15. and I would agree if he can score 10+ goals with an equivalent number of assists
  16. Man Utd have Giggs, Rooney, Ronaldo Tevez and Nani as fast ball carries that's why teams run away from them - we need 2 wide players at least equal to what Utd have to become a significantly better team - Used to think Silva and Arshavin would do it, not so sure now
  17. There's his weakness, Babel who we all criticise, is likely to score 12 or so and we'd need that from a wide player shame we didn't get Arshavin apparently we put in a bid but were too late as the Keane reseale took too long
  18. The Fulham 2nd goal was excellent, hitting it on the spin like that .....
  19. He's been spectacular in Germany and the abilty to play either wing would be an enormous asset - what's his strike rate like ?
  20. Used to think Ribery was a right wing - now it seems he's a left wing - which is his best position ?
  21. LOL guess we're circling around each other's arguments. YES we need another striker, YES he should be able to sub for Torres and play with him. I would prefer however the "striker" good enough to be first choice for one of the wide positions - as that would benefit the team more than him sitting on the bench
  22. I think you misunderstand. I'm saying buying someone to break up the Torres/Gerrard partnership is a bad move - we need someone who is a world class left/right winger or attacker who can play in those positions and walks straight into the first team
  23. Rafa's rant is worth nothing unless we win all our remaining games
  24. much as I like Tevez as a player, it would be the Robbie Keane thing all over again - He wont replace Nando, he won't replace Gerrard can he play as a Left or Right Attacker ? not really. We need someone who can be a first choice pick for Left or Right attack and when needed sub for Nando or Gerrard ... not easy to find someone that good and that versatile
