  1. well the long term success of the Liverpool FC entity is now assured - the new stadium will allow long term competition with Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd if the new owners can give Rafa repeated large transfer budgets then I think our chances of winning the league are considerably improved to be fair all we are lacking are a few flair players who can run with the ball, play in players and score -- world class wingers if you like this should help us compete This morning I read Queros saying C Ronaldo was one of the best talents hes ever seen - well Houllier was in for him and we lost out owing to money maybe in the future we wont
  2. so to repeat the question Is Mascherano training with us or is he still with West Ham?
  3. look at Cisse's goal ratio, look at Moriente's goal ratio basically we expect strikers to chase back at liverpool and that affects their goal ratio
  4. expect us to pay a premium for non disclosure - ie keeping it secret we've done this in the past
  5. you dont know what went on, in the end its all spin and our own perspectives you could argue 1 share holders get more money - good business and helps motivate agreement for new initiatives 2 Moores and Parry remaining ( at least initially ) good for the stability of the club as it transforms itself 3 New Stadium underwritten - good for the profitability of the club in the future 4 Gillette - lots of construction experience - good for the new stadium 5 Gillette - already experienced in sports management - offers new opps for better marketing 6 Gillette - clearly more sanguine than DIC therefore implies the club would be in more stable hands Fact of the matter is we dont really know, so dont let the current or previous spin get to you --- WAIT AND SEE
  6. sadly I only ever see Liverpool on Tv or sometimes when the come to London in my experience we really do lack invention in the final third - this becomes more obvious against well organised teams determined to defend now I'm sure you will say that applies to all teams but I keep seeing our Central midfield try to thread a needle with a long ball, and I see our wide player put in poor crosses, through balls etc basically we have 2 modes - long ball (usually fairly accurate so its not kick and hope ) but its easy to defend against or wide and cross again predictable so I dont know whether its the movement of the strikers or the poor set up play but it seems to me we would benefit from players who can do what C Ronaldo and Rooney do - Run with the ball beat players and draw defenders out of position for our quarter back style CM's
  7. Not just a striker ! I can see Rafa spending big on creative goal scorers - 2 top class wingers would make an amazing difference I dont see a striker as making such a difference unless its someone like Henry and there is only one of him Under Rafa we tend to control a game, hold possession and destroy the opposition attack quite well this helps our defending however in the opposition 3rd we seem to lack invention and an ability ( in general ) to create lots of chances this is where the creative players would come in Having a top class striker and not creating chances for him would be more a waste than creating chances for the strikers we have
  8. keeping ethnicity, religion and race out of it DIC do seem to be hotheads which is not good for the club IMHO
  9. means we wont get any reasonably priced players now ( or at best it will be so much harder ) the good news if true means we'll be shopping in the top end of the market which is where we need to shop to get the free scoring wingers we really need
  10. I'm sure Gerrard would only be on the right in a 442 - maybe he could be pushed up to a la Lampard in a 4231 Having said that if we want to be defensive and play all 4 midfielders (451) I can only see the Left as the weak link -definitely a formation to defend a lead
  11. we desperately need someone like ronaldo - someone who can do the unexpected
  12. The way i see it: Either they relegate WHU now or they let Mascherano sign for us if nothing was wrong with the WHU deal why would anything be wrong with a standard loan with clause to buy ? seems to me no one really checked the situation with Tevez and Mascherano joing WHU and they are trying to do so now retrospectively well if they are wrong they need relegate WHU now and cancell out all the points they've won or lost ( of course they cant do that ) so why not just let the deal be ratified ?
  13. He could run with the ball (which is something we lack) but I never thought his crossing was any good well not for Liverpool His goal against Celtic shows what we are missing now - someone who can run with the ball, commit defenders and force errors as well as cross accurately
  14. so the Blue half of Merseyside have been allowed to sign Fernandes but without the clause that can make it a permanent deal how similar are the two cases Mascherano and Fernandes ?
  15. he's jealous and Mascherano hasn't even officially signed yet
  16. or men in suits that just dont like liverpool
  17. Not likely to play in the Derby when's the NUFC game ? also is it before or after the France vs Argentina international ?
  18. so basically we have his registration but we're not allowed to play him ? well he wouldnt play in the derby anyway - but the FA had better get their assess in gear
  19. they've officially announced the other 2 ---- I'm now concerned
  20. well: 1 we may not be able to get Mascherano come summer 2 We may not be able to afford him with the DIC thing going on Its best to take the option now I'm pretty annoyed if it turns out the people who own Mascherano's registration are too amateurish to complete their end correctly and livid if there turns out to be a problem our end
  21. Me too I'm starting to worry, come on FA - want this announced ASAP so I can worry about Gillette
  22. they're stalling because of pressure from Everton surely we would have had the right forms filled in and waiting for days now?
  23. Great wheeler dealing there - Owen = Josemi +8M we trade Josemi for KromKamp and get 3m offloading KromKamp therefore we got 11m for Owen Now we really need to continue doing wheeler deals like this - take Barragan for example if he doesnt come back and he's worth more than 600k we should sell him on and get his full market value
  24. there is an option to buy (price fixed) so if he's good think of it as a try and then buy deal - with 18 months to save up for the purchase
