Looked like it. They said it's his bicep but it looked like another arbitrary drawing of lines, and arbitrary timing of when the ball is played. Is it really? If it is, that is truly mad - and surely the whole issue of precisely when a ball is 'played' can't be judged to the millisecond, so making centimetre-level decisions completely illegitimate?

A few years ago I worked at one of the big sports data providers, and did a huge analysis of ref stats over the past 20 years. The most shocking thing wasn't the awarding of pens, but how many fouls it took to earn a yellow card, and how much it varied per team for a single ref. From memory, as an example Webb took 12 fouls per yellow given to Man U players, but fewer than 4 for LFC ones, across their entire career.

1) Wolves have let us spread the payments very generously - 1st year being nothing besides Hoever's value 2) Jota's probably on less than half the wages Werner was after. 3) Suspect we've only moved on Jota now we're sure we're getting in decent money for Origi, Brewster, Grujic et al.

Sure, increasing debt is doing just that - spending future revenues ahead of their actual arrival. Same as any credit. Our effective working capital - from a football (not just financial) perspective - is the total value of the squad, plus cash at hand. And by running with little debt we are effectively reducing that total working capital, which means a thinner squad than our rivals. We don't have to keep ballooning debt forever, but if we chose as a one off to shift our debt level to (say) £300m (still £200m less than Man U for example), then we'd have 2 or 3 more high class players in the squad, always. The only risks we'd bear is (1) if the market for players completely craters, making us unable to liquidate value in our squad, or (2) if we stop running the rest of our operations the way we have been for 4 or 5 years now - growing commercial revenues, selling on youth players for decent money, selling older players for top dollar etc. The way FSG are running us right now makes perfect sense if your goal is an exit in about 3-5 years, but means you're relying on a lot of luck that your thin squad doesn't get exposed at any point by injuries, suspensions etc. Edit: additionally, our debt-to-value ratio is absurdly lower than under H&G, before anyone starts talking about unsustainable loading of debt.

As others have said, and SwissRamble makes clear, the difference is entirely down to FSG not wanting to run the club with heavy debt, unlike our top 6 rivals. This is most likely because they have one eye on selling us and we're much more attractive when not debt-laden, as it allows a prospective purchaser to buy us using debt, as H&G did. As Nate says, their current success model is just Klopp. Without him, we're nowhere. And as Ed says, the nightmare scenario is that they sell pretty much when Klopp leaves, so we have a new manager and a debt-heavy ownership, and we're back to 2010.
