  1. As I've mentioned before my French ex-Ligue 1 friend has been raving about Nicholas Pepe for a year or more. Couple of years back he kept saying that we *had* to sign Salah, Fabinho and Bernardo Silva (damn). So from his track record, I'm on the Pepe bus. Oh and he also thinks the Villareal kid Chukwueze will be amazing in a couple of years, and that we should have already signed Ndombele from Lyon, but I think Keita was our equivalent. I have suggested to him he should be working as a scout.
  2. Christ, in the context of all those others VvD's perfection is ridiculous. It's like he's playing a different sport. I figured it was one of those stats that you dig into and find that loads of other defenders only got beat once or twice, so zero isn't weird...but no, he's just superhuman. He's the Messi of defenders.
  3. Presume we can stop the arguments of Lovren vs Matip now. Not even close, Joel has pretty much matched Virgil the last few months (as Joe did before that).
  4. Would argue we already are. Consecutive European Cup finals, and 97 points in the league with only 1 defeat all season, to the champions. Sounds a lot like us in the 80s
  5. No question on both fronts. Can't wait
  6. This. What a morning :-)
  7. Yeah, a million (and six) times this.
  8. Was thinking that myself. Tense as f**k if that is the case though.
  9. Excellent displacement activity there. I've walked a neighbour's dog, and am now watching tennis. Ignoring everything till about 4pm when I have to start the process of securing seats at the local pub. And drinking, obviously.
  10. Totally is. The Irish Independent is a thing to be treasured
  11. Molby talking all kinds of sense here. Have you considered a second (third/fourth/ninth) career as a relationship counsellor? And the bit in bold - genius. I may be appropriating this for future disagreements with girlfriends.
  12. There's been noises about that for months. Would love it to be true. A left-footed Mane.
  13. Maybe, but a squad like City's has never been assembled before either. And the award doesn't always go to the bloke who won the most stuff - Pulis won it in 13/14 ferrchrissakes. Still think Klopp's achieved more with his resources than cardigan boy has with his, but I get why winning the treble could be seen as decent
  14. But surely that's just par given their resources? They literally have 2 £50m players for every position.
  15. Quick test to see if this is justified - swap the managers round this season between LFC and CIty, and where do the two teams finish? Klopp's City wins by about 20 points IMO. Pep could never get out of our squad what Jurgen did.
  16. For his sake I hope so, but his overwrought certainty and the faux solemnity with which he says his mad sh*t makes me think he's got bad things going on in there. But yeah, let's just hope he puts it on for the media, and down the pub he's a sound lad.
  17. I genuinely think Crooks is mentally ill.
  18. No that's fine, as long as we draw and they lose 7-0
  19. From that Twitter feed, this is good:
  20. From a great set of images on the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/football/gallery/2019/may/08/what-a-night-liverpools-stunning-comeback-against-barcelona-in-pictures
  21. This is great pretty sure that's what my internal monologue was during the match.
  22. If you're gonna have 'squad players' then you want them to be just like Div - comes up with important goals & moments, despite only getting a quarter of the games of the regular starters. Limited for sure, but just brings it when we need it most.
  23. https://newsthump.com/2019/05/07/jurgen-klopp-asked-if-he-fancies-having-a-go-at-managing-brexit/ “There is no hope, everyone knows we’re going to lose, and it doesn’t matter what we do from this point on, it’s going to end in misery for everyone who cares. We need a miracle, but that sort of thing doesn’t seem to bother Jurgen."
