I’ve always found him to be a really boring player as I prefer other types but even I have never disputed that he has been effective. Effective is probably too mealy mouthed. He has largely been out and out good. Last season he wasn’t and there were a couple of poor months in 23/24 but he returned to form way quicker than was acknowledged. That said, I don’t think I particularly noticed the quality of his passing being particularly incisive, even when he was doing a good job upfront for Klopp and had runners.

I don’t quite think that should be or was entirely his game. He looked technically competent at Newcastle which was meant to be one of the things that was a step up from Nunez miscontrolling it and “dribbling” into people.
