I think it was absolutely a veiled message - just like his unchanged side on game 100... everything is very meticulously 'designed' with Rafa. But as you said, who cares in the greater scheme (although I would guess the owners would pay attention to it).

I think it was Rafas very subtle way of being a 'Coach' and not a 'Manager'. Even when he does stuff like that, it just makes me love the guy more!

I still think it was his right to go for that ball going out... he did have a chance of getting it, and the Porto player made the most of it - rolling around etc... I I said in another thread, if he hadn't of even made an attempt to get the ball, half our fans would have been screaming at him for lack of commitment. He was a red card walking like, but I think he was clearly making a legit effort to get the cross in.

I think Pennant was unlucky to get the second yellow. It does my head in the way players are allowed to shield (obstruct) the ball out of play... where anywhere else on the pitch you can't. Give Pennant his due, he was trying to get the ball and gave it a fair effort - it was in a dangerous position for a cross. What was he meant to do - just let the defender let it run out without making any effort to get at it? I'm sure he'd have been berated for lack of commitment in that instance by half our fans.
