Diouf. Diao and Cheyrou were enigmas really. Diao actually looked very promising the first 3-4 months. Dynamic box-to-box midfielder who got stuck in and looked like he could run up and down the pitch all day. Then he steadily regressed and was shown up for his lack of quality when not riding a wave of confidence. Cheyrou? What was his plan with this guy, really? Looked impressive early whenever he was given cameos, but eventually went into his shell when he never got more than that. Weird handling of him. Houllier obviously rated him as someone who could become a central figure and yet he never dared to give him that responsibility. He should have just stuck him into the first team from day one and let him build on his confidence early on. Diouf, imo is the only of the three that actually improved over time. I would still say it was never his ability on the pitch that was in question. Always a strong dribbler, hard worker and offered movement on and off the ball. He desperately lacked in end product, but he was more than good enough to be an asset as a squad player. His ambition to become the most hated figure in the premiership put a stop to all that though.
