  1. Yes thats right its a sh*t direction but whether you like Sky or not, the club benefits from the Sky money. No doubt the success of Sky with all its hype was fuelled by Engerlund's World Cup campaign in 1990. Liverpool as a club may benefit financially from a global fanbase but many of those fans may have started getting interested in football from seeing the international game on the telly and perhaps following the club(s) which their international stars play for
  2. Maybe thats true but theres a case that club football benefits from the international game. That football is a massive global sport is in part due to internationals and the World Cup in particular.
  3. What would be the country equivalent of Everton?
  4. Do we actually know this?
  5. Kewell still seems to divide opinion. Was he a workshy sicknote or did injury rob him of the chance to really show what he could do in a Liverpol shirt? Not sure if I know but Rafa certainly seemed to have a lot of patience where he was concerned.
  6. It had been suggested that Houllier was urging caution rather than trying to big things up. The BBC quotes don't support that view at all. In my view it was rather a silly thing to say - you may as well say you are only 6 lottery numbers away from being a millionaire. Ten games doesn't sound many but they would have been ten massive games and why heap further pressure on yourself by saying it? Better to stick to the more boring but more sensible - "just thinking about the next game."
  7. Houllier said: "Hopefully we are ten games from greatness. We're still in contention to win the title and the Champions League. The vision is to win both. "It is a matter of time and patience, but it will happen I can tell you that. I believe in this squad. The players are my heroes and true heroism is always rewarded. "They have re-written history and are destined for greatness. I know they like to work and play together and that is a major quality. When they want something they are unstoppable and unbreakable. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ool/1907023.stm Seems like hubris to me
  8. Best post ever. I just want Rafa to say this in interview with Shreeves.
  9. Who are these Rafaholics of whom you speak? They must be infidels and should be destroyed. Only the Rafastarians know the true path to the deity
  10. Maybe he thought " If I sign this now, that Makaveli bloke'll look a right t*sser"
  11. Odd isn't it that we have so much luck in Europe
  12. Is he human or is he Wenger?
  13. You would think that if the owners can work this out then so would our 606 type "fans" .
  14. Benitez celebrating would be - just wrong
  15. Just being mischievous - no point scoring intended - well yes maybe a little. But you are right it was definitely up there as one of the very best performances and we should all drool over it.
  16. Its almost enough to make one Rafa's number one fan
  17. Surely anyone who says they don't listen to the media and/or doesn't care what they say about Liverpool FC has to be taken with some scepticism?
  18. Sadly it is very true that the club is a laughing stock. There are those who say "I don't care what they say on Sky Sports etc" but surely they should care that we are the butt of jokes. Yesterday there was some joke on R5 about a horse called Benitez being in the lead and then finishing 6th and the whole studio erupted with laughter. I nearly kicked the radio in. And then there was that tw*T "Motty" going on yet again about our lucky win aganist Chelsea in 2005 Cl semi.
  19. that still hurts
  20. I think what he is saying is that one you can put in your sandwiches the other you can keep dart scores with
  21. I think a lot of what you say is fair enough and nobody is exempt from criticism of course. I think what upsets a lot of people myself included though is that in Rafa's case the criticisms are totally out of proportion to what he has achieved for this club with his hands tied. Much of this is from the media but there are plenty of LFC fans picking up and running with it. The comparison with Houllier whilst valid in some respects is unhelpful because whatever we may think of his achievements it all ended rather badly.
  22. Shankly left of his own choosing when the club was at the top. He did not run out of steam as Houllier did.
  23. According to Tomkins on the offal Darby is injured
  24. He may be a dour bugger but he's our bugger
  25. In future we should not sign players who are billed as the "next..."" anything.
