  1. Imagine it being: Reina Kelly Skrtel Agger Johnson Poulsen Kuyt Lucas Raul Meireles Maxi Torres Unless he tries Cole or keeps Spearing. Amazing how weak we are in the centre of the park in terms of depth.
  2. I think there's a long way to go on this deal, Ajax aren't exactly going to let their main asset go for £10-15m . Maybe.
  3. Hammill will come off the bench and score the winner.
  4. Where has all this Young talk come from? Anything substantial beyond the Bent deal? Also Van Bommel's agent said there was an offer from Liverpool but 'others were more interesting', probably from Qatar or some s***
  5. Got mixed up, nevermind.
  6. But he could be adding 2 and 2, John W Henry is over after all.
  7. Torres Lucas Spearing
  8. I think Suarez has the potential to be a complete flop, particularly in the English game. And I also think it's easy to look quality in the Dutch league. A few decent performances in the World Cup aside and I think he's someone who's hyped up and pricey. In the games I've seen Ajax play over the last couple of years he's come across as a player who can disappear in games quite easily and be quite lazy. Besides, Ajax will want a ton of cash for him. Can't see it as a very NESV deal, judging by all we've heard of them. But then again, I'm quite often wrong. And I forgot about the links to Suarez, to be fair. Really don't think they can rationalise the deal, though. Using the same rationale as for Antonio Nunez back in the day, he can facilitate something tactically. Again, believe me if we had another option I'd happily have shot of him, but the only other players are Jovanovic, whose struggled domestically, but been good in Europe.

I think it will be: Reina Johnson Aurelio Skrtel/Kyrgan Agger Lucas Raul Kuyt Maxi Babel Torres. Which would make me worry considering we primarily concede goals from set plays against these lot and that's a pretty small XI. This game is crying out for Kyrgan. But whether it's worth the lack of building from the back on his side or not is another question. Can see Babel/Kuyt/Maxi doing a good rotation job behind Torres and hopefully finding space. Really worried how easily we get caught on the break at the minute, too. Urgh. Football.

Sorry, I do understand the logic, I'm just getting a bit fed up of fans saying that Kelly, Pacheco and Suso should be starting in games. Pacheco hasn't ever shown anything domestically that would show he's ready and I still have reservations on Kelly. Believe me, I'd love to be proved wrong. Fwiw, I would put Maxi there.
  11. Can't claim to have seen Hazard play, but Suarez isn't exactly pacey. If there was a deal lined up for a player or two who can come in and do the job then believe me, I'll pay for his plane. But considering the fact that there hasn't been a solid link with a player beyond Warnock or Marveaux, I'm not optimistic.

Throwing Pacheco, Suso or any other number of youngsters that have been mentioned on this forum, against Everton in a game that will be emotionally charged and physically difficult would be a ridiculous thing to do. Not to mention that the 'no pressure and play with freedom' idea isn't possible, Pacheco has been hyped up to every LFC fan for 2 years as the guy who will come in and be fantastic. Plus there's no such thing as 'no pressure' on derby day.
  13. Well, beyond getting some chainsaws in, he's the only player who can take on run in our squad. Not defending him, I think he's a sack of spuds, but can't afford to lose what he can - almost - bring to the team.
  14. It's neither, he must like Football Manager.
  15. Can't afford to lose him, he's the only player who has any pace, aside from Jovanovic.

Nervous for this tomorrow. No team news then?

No Cahill and hopefully no Pienaar. Got to try and boss them off the park. Worried we'll be too lightweight in the middle of the park without Gerrard and with RM on a bad dip of form, though. Really don't know how we'll line up, but really can't see us winning. Here's hoping I'm completely wrong.

The loss of Xabi and Masch has nothing to do with Lucas, what Lucas does is nothing like either of those players. People will criticise Lucas for not playing the terrific balls or doing the crunching tackles, but he brings a lot to the team. Lucas plays a very tactical game, he draws plays to him and allows space to open up, he is the best reader of the game amongst our central midfielders as well. And I still maintain that if the lad got a bit more confidence he'd get a few goals under his belt, he makes brilliant runs forward but just hasn't found the nous of converting anything. RM has looked lost at times, Gerrard has looked lost at times, Lucas is the only player we have who can steady the shift and dictate how we play, regardless of what anyone thinks, you watch him properly next time he plays rather than the highlight reel stuff. And beyond all this the kid has dealt with stick since he first arrived and has put his head down and worked his a*rse off, if there isn't a more Liverpool quality than that, then I don't know what to say to fans who can't be convinced.
  19. Raul Meireles looked like he was carrying an injury and Lucas was our best player out there aside from Reina.
  20. No one expects us to win, Kenny has just arrived in the country so it isn't really ever going to be his "fault" either way, but the energy surrounding the club after the appointment mean we could very well turn up for the 2010/2011 season tomorrow.
  21. Was in work and managed to sneak on to twitter and saw it on the homepage. Went apesh*t, thankfully no one was around.
  22. COME ON.
  23. Am I the only one thinking that this seems prime territory for a sneaky 1-0 win? Yeah? Ok then, I'll be quiet.
  24. 2 years of constant rumours about the ownership of the club, and now we've had rumours about management for the best part 3 months. Getting beyond ridiculous, when we get a new coach in we'll have to contend to rumours of our big players leaving due to lack of European football. We're always on the defensive on something.
  25. Urgh.
