Rushian Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 taken from RAWK: In tonights Echo (page 10) Paddy Shennan has talked about a new TV series which will look into the 'murky world of football hooliganism', the series is called 'The Real Football Factories' which will begin to air on Bravo on May 11th- there is 1 about the North West clubs (Liverpool, Everton, Man Utd, Man City and Burnley) on the 18th May. Now even though the piece is just talking about the apparent hooliganism in todays game and has a little interview with the host Danny Dyer (he was the main character in the Football Factory film and was also in The Business and Human Traffic), Shennan has put in a bit regarding the North West episode which he had seen a rough-cut of: ......Dyer "If you find the series glamorous, then you are obviously a violent person already. Others will be turned off by that whole world." And those who know the score will also be turned off by the crass, deplorable and long-discredited inaccuracies about the Hillsborough disaster in the north west programme. After interviewing Danny, I watched a rough cut which included the following voice-over lines: "...hundreds of fans without tickets had stormed the terraces" and "this horrific event forced the government to act- hooliganism had to be stamped out" Ticketless fans storming the terraces? Hooliganism? Hopefully the programme-makers will replace these lies with the truth, ahead of the broadcast date.... I know this programme is only going out on cable, but I think we need to make people aware of what they are going to put on air, as a lot of people will again believe the lies told by this country's media. I have already sent an email to bravo at enquiries@bravo.co.uk pointing out how wrong this would be if they put these 'facts' on air. Just thought I'd bring it to people's attention so that they get quite a few emails regarding this, as we fight as 1 for the lives of the 96.

Guest Assassin Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Its beyond comprehension Email shortly winging its way in to them. I sincerely hope all the families and loved ones take these to court for damages if this is aired
smithdown Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 How can this be a 'genuine' mistake after all these feckin years of campaigns and publicity? Surely they realise how much this kind of stuff brings us down.
Red_Polo Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 (edited) This is a f****** disgrace, how can they get away with it? Morons too busy making morbid entertainment to even research things properly Btw people don't just e-mail Bravo + zaigzag, e-mail Ofcom via www.ofcom.org.uk Make sure you let Bravo and Zigzag know you've told Ofcom too Not the first time won't be the last There was a similar problem with a programme called 'Sports Disasters 2' aired on 'Reality TV' a while back EDIT: Turns out you can't inform Ofcom until AFTER the programme is aired - they can't do anything about it until then Edited May 3, 2006 by Red_Polo
Guest Jack Bauer Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 How many times Will send an email before any damage is done.
charlie clown Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 that's mine gone too. Come on, we should all be sending these complaints to them.
aka Dus Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Did the little I could and emailed them. A basic acquaintance with journalistic ethics ought to be enough but i suppose if they were being adhered to we wouldn't have this problem.
Guest roger Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Excuse my ignorance but is Bravo only on cable or is it an offshoot Bravo thing? I dont know as I dont keep an eye on these minority channels much these days. ???
fyds Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Mine sent too with a couple of links to more factual reports. Bravo is seen all over Europe carried by Sky Satellite Digital and it's affiliates - it's not simply a cable channel. Squash this (again) now.
anny road Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 interesting update on this.....I sent an e-mail to Ally R as she likes to know about this stuff and she sent me the following reply "I cannot believe this. I was interviewed for this series and they didn't even mention Hillsborough, i assumed that was because it was not classified as hooliganism which it obviously wasn't. I really liked the blokes doing the show and it seemed quite light hearted. Tbey did not mention Hillsborough and they knew I was a Liverpool supporter. I am gobsmacked and embarrassed and fearful...." She is onto them
jimmylibel Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 For what it's worth email gone too. Would it be worth sending emails to the cable/ digital providers that host Bravo as well? ie Sky and NTL?
timbos goals Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I phoned Zig Zag. They put me through to a girl named Vicki who they said was producer for the programme. We talked at length about how grievously wrong it would be to include any reference to Hillsbotough in a documentary about hooliganism. She agreed without reservation. She assured me that the press release was an error though she was vague on how the error came to arise. What she was very clear and adamant about was that there is NO reference in the programme to Hillsborough and that there never was. She stressed she is originally from Merseyside. Most of her family are still from this area. No reason to disbelieve what she said. However, as ever, the proof of the pudding....

Sara Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I've read elsewhere though that there was a reference in the rough version but was cut for the final. The rough one was the one sent to the journo. The story must have come from somewhere so I think they have edited it.
