Red or Blue? Do We Know?

The FA are sticking by their decision to pre-select Merseysider Mike Dean to referee the FA Cup final between West Ham and Liverpool.

What an absolute joke? How can you have impartiality by selecting a referee for a match before the teams have been decided!! I'm not worried that he may potentially be a blue and be biased against us because i don't believe he can be that unprofessional, but that if there is a controversial decision in our favour the whole country will say he's bieased towards us.

I presume he has refereed both us and Everton on many occasions. He is a professional referee - where he is from is utterly irrelevant

No it isnt, and it especially isnt if he's put under all sorts of pressure before the game.

I think the ref would be daft to even try and be biased in a game watched by millions.

He will do the best job he can - referees are too closely scrutinised for him to be blatantly biased.

He can't be any worse than most of the muppets that referee games in the UK.

I reckon they should get the FAs senior tea lady in - she might have more of a clue.

Whatever you say Andy.

Don't be daft. Biggest game of the man's refereeing career. If people know he's a Blue don't you think he will be trying even harder to get the decisions spot on so people don't have a stick to beat him with?

he's a professional referee and therefore shouldn;t be biased but i think were there is a possibility of bias being inferred then then the ref should be changed

There's a matter of professional integrity. It would be unfair to take the offer away from him given that it was decided before our match. He was offered it because he's their best choice - he should have no problem in performing to a high standard.

You could get a ref from the midlands that is an Everton fan......I honestly think that all top referres are impartial when they walk out on the pitch.

Some will call us naive but I completely agree with you

I know a professional linesman and he swears by it.

Not being a ref I may be totally wrong, but I would think they are all concentrating so hard (dont laugh!!!), that they actually are not thinking of who they are whistling for, they see a foul and give it. It all happens to quickly for them to think oh thats a foul on so and so, I like the guy comiting it so will wave play on.

They should have done the safe thing and selected a referee from Newcastle or Birmingham....that way they could have been safe in the knowledge that the local team would not be in the final ;)
