do you think if a rangers player played for ireland hed get booed at lansdowne coyler??

I honestly think that there's every chance he would, unfortunately. Only takes a dozen or so, sure.

That's the problem with having the two f***ing teams.

I heard a great story about Murdo McLeod when he played for Celtic against Rangers. It was his first Old Firm Derby and he was getting quite upset with the stick he was getting. Paul McStay pulled him to one side at half time

'Don't worry son, it's always like this against the hun, take no notice.'

McLeod who is a Protestant replied 'They keep calling me a Fenian Barstard'

McStay laughed out loud 'Is that all, Christ they've been calling me that for years'

'Aye' said McLeod with a straight face 'but that's fair enough, you ARE a Fenian barstard'. :D

What did Miller do to become a hate figure, I've missed this one?

Most Celtic fans, to be fair, will quite revel in the fact that he used to play for Rangers. They'll spin the yarn that he's playing there after turnign down Rangers etc etc

But only if he's scoring goals. If he doesn't he won't last jigging time.

Miller started out at Hibs, and was looking like a really promising youngster. Moved to Rangers and got stuffed in their reserves -- the old firm quite often buy decent young players so they can't play against them (allegedly).

Hibs would be the more catholic of the Edinburgh teams historically. Not such string ties as Celtic though.

Mo Johnson was the first Catholic to play for Rangers I believe. Rangers fans burned their season tickets etc. at the time.

They accidentally signed one yonks ago in a South African who they presumed was a raving reformation-head. Quietly transferred him when they found out he was, in fact, a filthy Papist.

Souness did unbelievably well to drag them out of their Protestants-only days, never mind those loonies burning their STs.

Celtic gave up any Catholics-only policy and were signing Protestants pretty soon after they were founded, and almost definitely before Hibs. The early Hibs/Hearts aggro is not to be underestimated. Hibs used to be the Catholic/Irish club in Scotland.

Hearts were actually, a couple of seasons ago, one of the worst clubs for shouting sectarian nonsense. I've been to quite a few Hibee's games and they've generally been sound (never seen them play Rangers or Hearts mind).

I've been to a few Rangers games this season and some of their fans really are bloody vile. Hearing the whole stadium join in Sectarian chants during European games is just one of the most pathetic small time things I've experienced in football.

Didn't know about the South African though, must mention that to some of my mates :-)
