Drum kit

My youngest (aged 7) has an inking to play drums and I have been having a wee nosey about the Internet and saw many different starter kits but I was wondering if adding the extra money and getting a basic electronic one would save my sanity.

Obviously I am gonna make sure he goes to lessons etc before I actually buy him anything, I am only really having a look at the moment.

So, would it be better for me and all concerned to get an electronic set or are they just a fad

I bought my electronic kit in 2001 so its definitely not a fad. I think that is the best option to start with, because he can practice with the ability to have his volume regulated. A luxury you don't have with an acoustic kit.

If he shows promise and gets into it, that's when you buy him a decent acoustic kit.

you can get covers for the drums

good for practicing

but they cost money, and personally, I'm only in it for the volume

if I were you, I'd geg in on this and learn to play too

and It improves your dancing - I could be in Pan's People now

I am concerned that there is already an amazing racket, with my mrs playing bagpipes, me and my son on guitar and now, junior La on drums might just put me and my neighbours over the edge. Have you played electronic ones Molby!
