Argeles Sur Mer & Barcelona

Bootser

Recommended Posts

Heading off on Wednesday morning to Argeles Sur Mer via Barca Airport/Hire Car.

Anyone experience of picking up pre booked hire car from Avis at Barca Airport? Any idea where it is location wise? I've had previous experience of thisfrom various airports which has ranged from very straightforward to bedlam.

We spend 12 nights in Argeles and then drive back to the airport, drop car off and spend two nights in Novotel, Barcelona. Best option for getting from airport to hotel? (Four of us) Taxi or public transport?

Moltes gràcies/ Merci beaucoup

And if there's a few (four?) passengers, cost difference might not be great.

If your hotel is next to the train station, the pendulum swings back that way a little.

So many unknowns.

Depends where your hotel is but, as has ben stated abovee, taxi, train or bus are all options. On our arriaval just a few wekes back we got the train in from the airport to the city centre and we waited a lot longer than we expected to at eth airport terminal for the train and it wasn't that fast either. If you need that option you need to give yourself about an hour and quarter at least.

The buses go from Placa d'Espanya and are more regular than the trains.

Taxi is the most convenient but marginally pricier depending on how many people and cases etc, you have. We paid EUR 35 incl. a small tip from our hotel (near Rocafort metro stop) for me & the missus plus cases. That was mid-morning and took 25 minutes.

One other thing - get your selves the travel passes (available in all metro station tickets machines). We saved a small fortune with having those. Much better than the Barca cards which supposedly get you in to some attractions FOC as well but most times we tried ours apart from one bog stadnard buses and metros it wasn't an option so we though we paid extra from those with no real benefit. The travel card is the better option of the two.

Cheers James - I think the taxi suits best and the outlay isn't much more expensive than the train/bus/metro route. Is the card you're mentioning the T10 - does seem good value.

PS - I still have the Booster Made For Walking CD which still gets played!
