Would you pay money to throw me out of a plane?

Refuge is my firm's London Office charity of the year. I am on the charity committee and as the other members do loads of other good stuff to contribute I thought I should do my bit, and losing weight is something of a 'win win'

Now I did consider a pounds (£s) for pounds (lbs.) approach but that just made the admin and monitoring difficult. Therefore my incentive is that I am going to do a sponsored parachute jump for Refuge on July 27th 2013, and to do that I have to shed the excess.

Having read the rules and if I do this in 'tandem' the weight limit is 15 stone, so this is my initial target. This is approx. 35 lbs. off my starting weight so is no walk in the park (although that might help!)

So you are sponsoring me to get fit for my long term health benefits only to jeopardise my short term health launching myself out of a plane...

The other good news is that my firm will match like for like any donations I receive so for every £10 you donate Refuge will receive £20, to good an offer to turn down.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

If you are a tight git then text MATB47 to 70070 as this will donate £2......

Laughing...

If I am too fat to jump I will gladly refund the money

Have already shed about 8lbs in about 3 weeks. Don't think I will keep that sort of rate up but it is a great start.

If only this was any number of other forumites I would pay a fortune to throw them out of a plane. I have met you though and still I don't want to throw you off a plane.

Fantastic Daniel thanks.. much appreciated, although am not quite sure why you couldn't round it up from 18.99 to 19.00 I will never know ;)

  • 4 months later...

UPDATE

• Well I have managed to get down to 15 stone 2lbs... losing 34 lbs in the process

• I have just a few more lbs. to shed over the next 4 weeks but am confident target weight will be achieved.

• So the reality is that I now have to throw myself out of a plane from about 10,000ft, and to be frank, the more incentives to not back out now the better. So with that in mind, if you haven’t already, then please click on the link below and sponsor me.
