Paid our honeymoon off on our American Express back in April, took us to about £70 off our limit. Transferred the full amount to the card via online banking 2 days later (14th April, Thursday before the Royal Wedding). Girlfriend then spent a bit too much on the card over the bank holiday weekend and took us over the limit, but I thought we'd be OK as nothing would happen over the bank holiday weekend. Unfortunately, those charges incurred on the Saturday were applied to the card on the Sunday, whereas our large transfer wasn't applied until the Tuesday after. Now we're being charged £25 interest fee. Do I have any leg to stand on to appeal this charge, given that we transferred credit to the card before spending more on it, yet the payment took 5 days to go, but a debit was put on 1 day after being incurred?
