Hardly world shatering news I know but still a shame, one of the old school managers from when I was a kid.

Death of Sirrel

"The Magpies' record goalscorer Les Bradd said: "We certainly feared him on match days, particularly when he was throwing jugs of tea at us. "

An evocative image.

Sad day. Old school and much respect.

I went to see Notts County vs Boston at the end of 2007 and sat in the Jimmy Sirrel stand. Outside the ground the sign above the turnstiles was resplendent with a photo of the snaggletoothed old boy.

RIP

 Yes not exactly a media friendly face was it!

Sky, and their 'generation' probably haven't even heard of him.

Why should they have? Why should anyone under the age of 30 have the remotest clue who Jimmy Sirrel was? Hardly a short-coming.

'Sirrel the Squirrel' we used to chant way back when - and he did look a bit like one. A friend of Shanks, and a good man at an unfashionable side. RIP

RIP.

Jimmy Sirrell & John Chiedozie are about the only things I can remember from Notts County of the late 70s early 80s.

sure i remember them both from early 80s panini albums. RIP old football bloke.
