League: English Premiership

www.liverpoolfc.tv

Liverpool dominated English and European football in the 1960s through the 1980s under legendary manager Bill Shankley and his successors. However, the club is marred by the fatal disasters at the Heysel and Hillsborough stadiums in 1985 and 1989, which took the lives of 39 and 96 spectators, respectively. An unexpected European Champions title in 2004-05 cheered the Anfield faithful. less so the arrival of new American owners to fund a new stadium and team to keep pace in the Premiership with Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Team Value 1 $1,050 mil(€777 mil / £523 mil)

The highest debt ratio in the top 10. Highest of the top 25 bar Valencia.

A bad season in the Champions League next time around would spell disaster for us if the Yanks are still here.

Its the highest debt ratio that worries me. We have the highest except for Valencia. And they are having a fire sale.

That's right.

Being in the "top four" doesn't count for anything when you have a 65 per cent debt/equity ratio.

If we don't do well next season in the CL and the Yanks are still here, expect some points to be docked.

It's that bad.

Utter Hyperbole.

Points docked? What the fook are you on about?

Erm... yes.

The truth is that we don't even have half the cash flow that Man Utd has, and yet we have a higher debt/equity ratio.

Our gate receipts and merchandising sales (which are both poor) are unlikely to be enough to sustain the club if we have a bad season. This is why Hicks hasn't found a bank willing to lend him money yet.

I'm not saying we're going to become another Leeds, but I cannot remember another top club accruing so much debt with so little cash flow without having serious problems when the cash stops flowing in.

As you might learn in your Accountancy/Economics course, cash is the lifeblood of a business. And, quite frankly, if even that is lacking, then we really are "fooked."
