There's a story in the press today about him being granted an extra day in Spain. He's been there for weeks with an injury apparently. Its not something that needs surgery but he hasn't trained for 3 weeks.

Sky sports story

All sounds a bit weird to me. Wouldn't the medical staff have wanted to keep an eye on his 'injury' ?

I would guess the club, trying to be nice to the player, gives him the opportunity to see a specialist (if they know it's a good one) close to home. Those kind of specialists are often more competent to assess a player's injury than the club doctor.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic for instance is currently also back in his (and my ;) ) hometown for the moment being treated for some sort of knee injury.

This seems to be happening more and more - our entire walking wounded seem to be in their home countries - Eduardo in Brazil, Rosicky in Czech Republic, Sagna in France.....I'm surprised that the clubs dont want to oversee every step of their rehab.

I think he's got some debilitating condition from running on hard ground so much. I think a few have gone down with it, Koumas is another I think, and it's very hard to treat, basically just rest.

I suppose if you had a major injury you'd want to be treated by a doctor who can explain it to you properly and not in your second language.

Watched him a few times in the last month or so at Goodison Park - he's carrying a fairly bad groin injury.

Moyes is a complete and total idiot for making him play 2 or 3 games while obviously struggling badly - this terrible decision from gollum has made the injury worse.

I don't really see Everton having to 'watch' the injury - they knew it was there and made him play regardless.

Stupid club.
