Bravo this man, for daring to speak out and say what we are all thinking. Damn you Rafa Benitez for constantly playing Steven Gerrard out of his favoured position. Damn you to hell!

When will he realise what everyone else has known for so long, that his preferred position is behind Torres in a 4-2-3-1 system. We can see it, why can't Rafa!?? His failure to spot this is just one reason why we will never win the league under him.

Steven Gerrard shines as respect is restored at Anfield

Liverpool 3 Blackburn Rovers 1

..

Peter Crouch was dropped as BenÍtez switched from 4-4-2 to the 4-2-3-1 system that he has favoured recently. Far more notable, though, was the decision to restore Gerrard to a central role behind Torres. BenÍtez had deployed Gerrard on the left of midfield against Arsenal, a decision that invited scepticism but one that was vindicated as his captain scored the penalty that helped to put Liverpool through.

Gerrard had described that performance as one of the worst of his Liverpool career, but while he has grudgingly come to accept BenÍtez's methods, there was no doubting his desire to remind his manager of his best position against Blackburn.

If may seem preposterous that Gerrard must audition for his preferred role after so long at the club, but while BenÍtez continues to draw performances such as this out of his captain, there can be little cause for complaint. Gerrard was not even at his best, but he was still at the hub of everything L i v e r p o o l created and, were it not for some questionable officiating by Alan Wiley, the referee, he may not have had to wait until the hour before breaking the deadlock.

..

The Times seem to have started adding highlights streams to their match reports, which I think is quite cool.

Look all Im saying is, this journo clearly knows his stuff .. Gerrard played well yesterday and I think its a formation worth trying out for a while. Sod this chopping and changing which has given us nothing but straight wins over the past couple of weeks ..

Lets play Gerrard behind Torres for the few games we have left this season and see how it goes? Rafa might have finally stumbled on a formation that works.

its also good to see that he knows now that Torres has to start, unlike at the begnining of the season where he was being rotated every other match

Good shout. Lets contact Wenger and ask if they'd like to replay last week's Champions league Quarter Final because Stevie started on the left.

Sheesh.

does he ? The first line of his article said Crouch was dropped. The club say he's injured. I stopped reading at that point.

If only Gerrard had started in 'his preferred position' against Arsenal, maybe we'd still be in the European Cup.

If Jose Arsene was our manager we'd have won the damn thing by now

If Arsene was manager winning it wouldnt bother me as long as we entertained the nation with our football.

Winning the hearts and minds of the country is like winning a trophy of your own :)

I thought Gerrard's favourite position was centre midfield?

I wish these experts would make up their mind and stop rotating their opinions. How on earth am I supposed to know what to think and what to ring up 606 and complain about?
