As early as the sixth minute you just knew it wasn't going to be our day. Long ball over the top, Rooney controlled and skimmed easily passed Carragher which brought out a good save from Pepe. From that point onwards was a chain of events that led to us surrendering the lead so easily and then self destructing with the Mancs coming out with an easy victory.

Straight after that incident it caused an unrest in our back line, a nervousness which never disappeared throughout the game. That nervousness then spread to the full backs and then to Reina. This despite the Mancs not really threatening us and we then go and concede a soft goal. Bloody deja-vu, its happening again, you could almost write the script of what was going to happen.

One nil down, we start to lose our discipline, we've bottled it and then with no help from the referee we get some silly bookings and ultimately Mascherano gets himself sent off. The game was over, we self destructed simple as, we are weak mentally particularly in the big games against the Mancs. I don't know why because we can go to Camp Nou, San Siro and the Delle Alpi and come away with a decent result.

We've beaten ourselves up again against them, they did not beat us, we beat ourselves and I'm sick of it, really sick of it, when is it going to end? The second goal conceded was cheap and the third just rubbed salt into an already wide gaping wound. Another bad day at Old Trafford, when again we have crumbled under expectation and pressure of the occasion. We've played in bigger games than this in the past under Rafa and we've come through with flying colours.

What is it about the Mancs? :(

Better than us

Always get the rub of the green

Refs always seem on their side

Too many pussies playing today. Very, very shocking performance by the team. This is what they are paid so well for?

Agree maybe Tom Hicks was right we dont expect to win against the Mancs even when we dominated the league they were always capable of beating us. Having said that I dont understand why Torres got booked for complaining about no protection without that Mascher may have settled down. Does Bennett have the record for the most Liverpool red cards and penalties?

Tom Hicks was right in that statement and the only reason people dismissed it was because it was Tom Hicks. If someone who doesn't know anything about football can spot it after 1 match against the Mancs, then it's pretty f***ing obvious.

We can talk all we like about Mascherano getting sent off, Gerrard going missing or Reina having a couple of brain explosions, but the one thing that depressed me most was seeing who Ferguson was able to bring off the bench in comparison to Rafa's options. There's still a fair gulf between the two squads and until that recedes, we're unlikely to close the gap.

Fair point.

They're an exceptional squad.

He gave Xabi a second yellow and a red at Arsenal a couple of years ago. Xabi clearly lost his footing and slid into the Arsenal player...never a yellow. The laugh is Ginsoak whining about protection for the diving cheating obnoxious one, then has his players kick lumps out of Torres.

Reina made some great saves today but was badly at fault for their first two goals. Didn't think that Carra or Skrtel covered themselves in glory today either.

Once Mascherano was sent off I nearly turned the tv over as I just couldn't see us getting anything. I wish I had now....
