s****. there isnt really another word to describe that. i'm struggling to think of a worse home league performance in the last decade. Leicester in 99 would be a comparison , the night Marshall scored against us. we were abject tonight. had we went out at home to Inter Milan with that set up, i'd have said it was too negative. at home to a poor Wigan side, us playing 2 holding midfielders and one up front wasnt negative, it was criminally insane.

one of two things is happening. either the players are following Rafa's instructions as thats how he wants us to play. in which case he has got it very wrong. or the second scenario is that the team arent playing for the manager. thats 6 or 7 times this season in the league we have played like we havent got a clue, some games we have got away with it, Wigan and Derby away, other games we havent, Birmingham and Spurs at home.

no creativity, no running behind the defence, no pass and move, no width. two holding players in Mascherano and Alonso getting in each others way, a defence intent and content in hoofing. I looked at that team line up before the game and i thought, "there is no goals in that team bar Gerrard and Torres". how many goals have the other 8 outfield players in that team scored for us this season? or indeed ever? if Gerrard or Torres dont do it, then no one else will. Torres and Gerrard stood out tonight so painfully, it was like watching two 16 year olds playing in an under 10's team. its a shame the other 8 couldnt show that they cared. its a sad state of affairs when Titus Bramble scores against you.

anyone who seriously thinks we will challenge for the league and arent out of it is now living in fantasy land. we need to be looking down, not up.

cut snakes dont even come into it for me, i'm so f***ing livid.

why no crouch, why two holding midfielders, why no one getting the ball to the by line and crossing it in, why none of our players getting into the box, why hoof, why no shots on goal, why no pass and move. why oh why oh spells yoyo

SaCk RaFa!

Edit: Seriously though, we need to splash some cash if we're gonna get the players good enough to win anything this season.

Cheers up mate, after the Cup game we go to a ground in the middle of nowhere, with stewards who are utter w*****s and we never win there.

Boro? there is a wee shop not far from the ground that does boss sunday lunch style things in a tray. other than that its the worst away day of the year.

No idea.

Also, you have to ask yourself if Pennant would have started again at the weekend.

That line-up was more suited to an away match in Europe.

Stutter, stutter but Rafa must be getting the team selections right as we won one a few games ago

to be fair wayne, I've seen far worse than that, not that it was good!

the thing that troubles me is that it's over 9 years since Roy Evans was sacked and we are still no where nearer winning the league than he was. You could even argue were further away from winning the league than then.

Aye, it's gonna be coolllllllddddddddddddddderrrrr than cold with a dreadful atmosphere, stewards whinging about standing and we'll play out a dour 0-0 or Dong Gook Lee will score and we'll lose 1-0. Buzzing already.

And yeah tonight was utter w***. Had a feeling that was coming at 1-0 and no one worse to score than Titus f***ing Bramble.

That is what pisses me off too, I want to see progress but we have to stop kidding ourselves. Is Rafa any better than Ged (in the PL)?

i mentioned this a few months ago and was mocked and laughed at on here. i think more and more are starting to see things as i have been seeing them in the league for a long time now. its f***ing shameful the football we are playing.

Hand on heart I don't think you can honestly say he is. At least under Houllier we got to celebrate a few wins over the mancs.

another in a long list of absolutely sh_it players to score important goals against us over the last 10 years or so but who either never score against anyone else and/or have never been heard of since........John O' Shea, Kevin Lisbie, Lee Carsley, Musampa, Cadamarteri.......I know there's loads more but I'm just too depressed to be arsed thinking about it.

What a sh_it night.

thats the thing.... the record against the other three under Rafa is abysmal.... Houllier had the upper hand over them on a number of occasions and its those results that give the team belief and pride.... not to mention the fans...

I am as down at the minute as I ever was under Houllier... Rest of the PL season is a battle with Everton and Man City.... going to be a horrendous few months, and with away games to a***, Chelsea and Mancs its not going to be easy, especially as Everton and City are on form and we aren't...

Didn't we get called the two Bigs or something ? I seem to remember Sutty mocking our views.

Ah well. Back on your heads.
