libero Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Tuned in tonight and they had the Chelsea game on instead even though its been all over the papers that our game was on,the complaint form had on it to complain about something you had seen on STV hence the opening line.I was as livid as a cut snake cos I could not concentrate on the game for the amount of texts I got asking me how the game was not on. Its not so much of a complaint about what I have seen but rather what I did not see. The above mentioned programme was billed as the Marsielle v Liverpool I tuned in only to find that the Chelsea V Valencia game on in its place which was also being shown on ITV4. If it had not been for a frantic search of the channels on my Sky box and luckily finding an English regional version of ITV I would not have been able to watch Liverpool the team I have supported since I was a boy. Why was the programme changed at short notice?? Why was an important game with everything to play for forfieted for which was essentially a dead game??? Although Chelsea have been flavour of the month in the last couple of years, the level of support that Liverpool have in Scotland far outweighs any Chelsea have, and no doubt there has been a large number of disappointed viewers tonight. Yours etc Robert Millar
Cheesecake Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 ditto here - but without the benefit of having a sky box.I was f***ing livid with the daft c**** - Chelsea v Valencia on ITV1 and ITV4 Whoever came up with that schedule needs a season ticket to Goodison the daft prickThanks - youve got me all riled again at f***ing useless clueless ITf***ingVPricks
Coyler Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Would it be worth contacting the sponsors? Maybe they'd kick up a fuss if they knew they had only half the audience for both sets of ads?
Montse Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Red faces at Scottish TV as Marseille v Liverpool has to be pulled at last momentGEORGE GRANT reporting - More by this author » Last updated at 07:54am on 12th December 2007 Comments Thousands of Scottish armchair fans were denied live coverage of Liverpool's crucial match with Marseille last night - after blundering TV bosses forgot they had shown Celtic's match against AC Milan last week. The plug was pulled on live screening of the Liverpool game at the last moment when it was realised STV would be breaking contractual agreements if it was broadcast. Instead, viewers north of the border were forced to watch Chelsea's meaningless game with Valencia, which was also being transmitted nationwide on the ITV4 channel. STV are only permitted to screen two Champions League matches per round. Last week, they televised Celtic's game with Milan at the San Siro, which was brought forward because of the Italian giants' involvement in the FIFA World Club Championship. ITV, who manage the contract, informed STV shortly before going on air last night that they would have been in breach of contract had the Liverpool game been shown. With the Chelsea match reaching Scottish viewers via ITV4, any screening of the Liverpool game would have meant Scots seeing three ties from the same round. An STV spokeswoman said: "Unfortunately, we were unable to show the Marseille-Liverpool game as listed - and as we had hoped to - due to contractual issues, which meant a last-minute change in the schedule. "We apologise to any viewers who were disappointed." Mail
Cunny Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 all very well but why show the dead rubber Chelsea game ahead of Liverpool's meaningful game?

libero Posted December 12, 2007 Author Posted December 12, 2007 My reply from STVThank you for getting in touch with stv. We are sorry that you weredisappointed with the change in the schedule. Unfortunately stv wasunable to show the Marseilles v Liverpool match due to contractualissues, which meant we were forced to change the schedule at the lastminute. Please allow me to explain the circumstances which led to the uniquesituation that occurred last night. stv is allowed to show two gamesper card of fixtures in the Champions League competition. UEFA movedthe Celtic match to last week, which we obviously chose to cover, takingup one of our allocation. Normally this would not have caused an issuebut with ITV4 showing the Chelsea match last night, and as this isbroadcast into Scotland, the Chelsea match had to count as our secondmatch. We were not informed of this issue until the last minute. Assuch, if stv had shown the Liverpool match, we would have been in breachof our contract. We understand that this last minute change was a disappointment forviewers who were looking forward to the game. We at stv were alsodisappointed to find ourselves in this situation. On this occasion, wewere notified very late in the day of this issue which meant we weren'table to change the listings in time. As soon as we were aware of theneed to change the schedule, our continuity announcers made viewersaware. I hope this helps explain the circumstances which led to this lastminute change in our schedule. Thank you again for getting in touch,we value your comments and take on board all feedback. Regards, stv Viewer Contact
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 ESPN is the dog's. I recorded it on the Spanish ESPN channel - I knew the score though. Because of ads & timeslots etc, we came back after HT in the 51st min. Completely ignoring the 3rd goal
