yesterdays game was the first game ive managed to get to this season.

due to the postal strike, no tickets were sent to dublin so we had to pick them up at the ticket window, which was fine. it said to bring some id, which is fine.

when i got to the ticket office, they wouldnt give me the ticket because they wanted proof of my address. none of the ID cards i was carrying had my address on it. it took me 20 mins of debating to finally get the ticket.

secondly, as a PTS member, we now dont get tickets for games, just a bloody recipt on a piece of paper. i have spent years collecting my ticket stubs so i can look back and remember the games i;ve been to.

now all we get is an A4 piece of paper which we have to show at the turnstile and swipe our PTS at a machine.

another gripe i have is that, when i dont go to games i let friends or other fans ive met, use my pts in order to ensure other genuine fans get to games also.

now this is not really possible with all the fookin security.

what i'd like to know if anyone can enlighten me, why all the bloody security over it? and what was wrong the way the PTS worked before? i thought it worked very well.

and why cant we be given proper tickets like every other fan entering the ground?

I guess the argument is that if other people want tickets, then they should get their own fan card or PTS. It's arguably a counter measure for touting as well

STHs just have their fancards too

well the PTS is shut down now, so they arent taking any newcomers.

i reckon if id otn use my pts, the tickets are given to bloody travel agents for all i know, given the amount of day trippers i see at games

i dunno, i have a good few mates whi use my pts and im happy for them to use it, and im worried now that if they use it and are 'rumbled' (as if they are doing anything wrong), then i'll have my pts taken off me

and i still dont get why it was changed, it worked perfectly well until this season

I know.

But the club is trying to control the flow of tickets, reward loyalty for attending games etc.

It's swings and roundabouts I suppose.

I have noticed that the amount of Irish travel agents offering match and hotel packages has increased this year. In fact most travel agents offer them now. These packages tend to be very expensive (extortionate when you subtract the face value of the match ticket and hotel room price from the package offered). I am wondering if some of the extra capacity from the increased security measures is being routed to these "outlets"? I don't know what the story is with our Scandinavian fans but I presume it is something similar for them with travel agents etc.

On a side note, for us OOT'ers who occasionally are lucky to get tickets direct from the club via postal applications and e-season ballots etc it is very difficult to get a hotel in the city center because the travel agents have them block booked for their "packages".

funny you should say that, there were 4 norwegian guys picking up tickets from the pts window before the game and they werent getting their tickets as the pts fancards they had werent theres.

i heard them explaining to the girl in the office that the booked it through a travel agent and this is how they've always done it and its never been a problem before.

so it seems that some travel agents are in possession of some pts tickets and arr ripping off fans. before i was on the pts i had to go thru a travel agent and it was extortionate.

i really felt for the norwegian lads as they had travelled all the way over and were falling victim to this new security level.

our ticket office is a complete shambles, they are being over picky about stupid things yest completely ignoring the big problems like loyalty schemes and actually selling the bloody tickets.

i turned up on sunday at 2 o'clock to collect my ticket forCardiff on wednesday. i only found out by pure chance that the tickets hadnt been posted to people with an L postcode. someone posted it on here actually. so i go up to the ticket office at 2 o'clock, no one about, no queues, go to the window, hand over my fancard and ask for my ticket. "I cant give it to you now" she said, "you'll have to come back after the game"

WTF, why cant you give me it now. but apparantly they were only giving tickets for todays game. there wa no one else about. madness. so after the game i go back round to the window, queue up for half an hour, by now it was pissing down too, so i was getting soaked, hand over my season ticket, and she says to me, "have you an ID?" now, as far as i was aware, the fancard was your ID. i said no, and she said that we do ask for you to bring ID. when did they ask this, i asked. well, its new procedure she said. so after much debate, she eventually went and got my ticket.

i reckon Wednesday nights game against Cardiff will have a delayed kickoff, because there are plenty who wont know the tickets werent posted and outside that ticket office will be f***ing chaos

That is awful. Poor guys.

It suggests that the club may not be the source of these tickets. Come to think of it most of the packages I was on involved meeting some guy in a pub or hotel in Liverpool to pick up the tickets.

Is there any legitimate way to share a PTS with a mate or another genuine fan or is it a straight violation of the PTS t&c's?

once the new 'receipt'/ ticket is sent to you in the post you can give that to your mate with your fan card and they should be able to stroll in with both of them. but if tickets need to be picked up from the ticket office when there are issues with post, thats where the problems arise.

as said in an above post, the ticket office are devoid of any discretion or understanding in these matters.

On a similar issue, my missus went up the ground yesterday to get a ticket for her little cousin and me for wednesday. I was going to take her to her first match

anyway, the ticket office told her she could not apply for a new fan card for her little cousin as there was currently a problem with fraud and as such they where not processing new fan card applications

HOW THE F'CK are the kids meant to get to their first game you bunch of clueless f'ckin planks in the ticket office, there will be EMPTY seats at anfield tommorow and they are turning new local fans away

Got a couple of tickets off my mate who knows a lad from the hartlepool f'ckin supporters club who he works with for god sake. Kid from f'ckin croxteth cant get a ticket and I have to buy a spare off someone from hartlepool. What the f'ck is going on

That sounds unfortunate - but without having any actual facts beyond what you have posted, why on earth are you kicking up a major fuss over something that is apparently a temporary problem?

I guess the fact that you actually have to have the fan card physically with you to get in the ground provides some protection against touts so they could show a bit more flexibility.

That said, I remember Anny Road telling me that he once went to pick up a ticket and the woman at the TO was unwilling to accept his passport as proof of ID. The quality of the staff has to be questioned.

I wonder if they are trying to get everyone to register separately so that they can build up a massive fan base with names and addresses for marketing and advertising purposes.

Gosh! Imagine that!
