You can't help but love him.

Ice cool first peno. 2nd was a bit too close for comfort, but showed some balls. Worked tirelessly as ever.

I thought he was excellent today.

Loved his reaction to both goals as well.

Should keep his critics quiet for a week at least. :bleh:

Showed some bottle because he scored from two penalties?

This post tells more about our difficulties from penelties than it does about Kuyts achievments, if he could not even score penalties what would he actually bring to the table?

If you dont score 8 out of 10 penalties you might as well hang up your boots if you are one of the considered penalty takers.

As a matter of interest, would mind analysing Voronin's performance to-day? I am unsure as to what to make of it.

High pressure game and 2 high pressure situations that he stood up and was counted. Hats off to him.

Our superstar captain couldn't handle the pressure to take the first, so we should congratulation Dirk in stepping up!

Kuyt scored two penalties, great stuff, but lets not go all over top because of it shall we, two penalties= two goals, anything else is shambolic.

That was my point, nothing else.

And like I said, it tells more about our recent record from penalties than Kuyts heroics.

Wrong, Owen is piss poor from penalties so he should not be considered as a penalty taker.

Well I dont, but someone does since they have made a thread about it.

Anything else than two goals from two penalties would have been a disaster, I just thought the topic starter went abit over the top with his praise there because something someone is supposed to deliver.

I regret I said anything at all.

I`m f***in made up with the result, I also said to my mates when they questioned the decision to sub gerrard why not, Lucas is supposed to be the player most like Gerrard so it makes sense.

So dont try to make this out as I`m anything else that truly made up with the result, but you are allowed to see things in a perspective either way.

You're off your f*ckin cake lad.

Owen was considered a penalty taker by Houllier who was pretty well informed on his attributes from 12 yards.

He missed loads so by your logic he should have packed it in.

Go and have a w*nk over yourself you daft tw*t.

I understand but lad, we just won the Derby I could write an Essay about how poor Momo was, but I'm not...

Just credit where it is due lad

The closest Owen would get to a penalty if I was in charge would be to watch someone take it, I`m not really sure if I would have allowed him that either, thats how s***e he is at them.

took massive balls to score the 2nd one

Course it did. How anyone can disagree that it takes guts to step up to take a stoppage time penalty to win an intense game against your bitter rivals in beyond me.

though kuyt was very good today, really worked hard....was pretty good first 10-15 mins...then went quiet like the rest of our side first half....2nd half he was impressive....showed alot of fight, nerves of steel for the pens..

Kinda suprised in a way liverpool fans havent really taken to him...you`d think with his energy and passion he`d be more loved within the terraces...but really he isnt.

Quite a strong reaction that.

Kaiser you are making people angry.

Yes I have noticed that, but I failt to see why.

If we had scored from our penalties as the norm instead of missing them in the later years we would never have seen this thread, and that was my point, that the thread said more about our earlier failings from the spot than Kuyts success today.

We are not used to see our players score from penalties and certainly not two in a row, would a Chelsea fan have started such a thread to praise Lampard if he scored from two penalties against Fulham?

I really dont think so, Kuyt did great, but he also did what should be expected.

I hope this is the last post I need to post to try to explain it. :)
