Heart says lates 80's, but the "weakness" of Venison Gillespie rule that out and I end up going with the early 80's side.

Any team with Lawrenson and Hansen at the back, Souness and Whelan in the middle and Rush and Dalglish up front is embarassingly overendowed with talent.

If we're being picky, the early 80's side was possibly a bit too dependent on Rush. I'd say there were more goals from midfield in the late 70's side.

Gillespie was a very good player, just always injured.

Thinking how Whelan/Molby set things up nicely in 86 makes me want to go with a line up that has them 2 in it. However the Beardsley Barnes team of a few years later is the stuff of dreams.

Case McDermott Souness Kennedy

That's a fantastic midfield - and for Case you could put in Lee or Johnston and it still rocks. If you could transplant the Souness of those days into today's team, we would walk the title this year.

Dont disagree too much with that (From my time as a fan).I used to think Molby was superb too and would always try and get him in my favourite team. To do that I would put Gerrard right and have Molby in the middle with Souness.

As a manager I would have Paisley, Shanks was just before my time. Would anyone on here have Rafa ahead of Bob?
