StevieC Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 My missus brother go a nasty shock last year when he found his missus was not only having an affair but also pregnant by the other fella. The marriage had not being going well for some time so he was already low but this tipped him over the edge (he is prone) and he had a full on nervous breakdown, characterised by outbursts of Manic behaviour to the extent he was repeatedly hospitsalized and eventually sectioned for a short period. Eventually he stabalised but was still suffering from chronic Major depression and the pychiatrists were experimenting with his dosages. During one of the more lucid phases he got himself together enough to return to work (against medical advice) ostenisbly because he is a very conscientious guy and thought his bosses and subordinates had been very supportive (what the hell else were they going to do???) However, since he returned he has had further periods of lowness (with resultant absenteeism) and whislt ojn a series of sedatives he fell asleep at work (he is a warehouse manager for a big corporation) and received a warning. He has now been asked to attend redundancy meetings to justify his position following a 'restructure' but this smacks of an employer playing silly buggers- are there any steps he could take in this situation? I suspect he would take the offer if it represented his 20+ years service but they haven't spoken in anything like those terms yet.
