New York Red Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Judging by what you've seen in the first three games, do you think Rafa is happy with what he has or will he be speaking to Parry in the morning saying that they really have to buy someone else in order to make a serious title challenge? I'm very impressed with our performances so far. While I would like a really creative wide player, I'm pretty hapy with what we have right now. Up front we are clearly going with what we have. In the back I think other than some confusion in the first game, we've been excellent (with Arbeloa being a really, really nice surprise in how well he is playing). I think he doesn't even go for Heinze and he makes a good splash in mid-season just like he has done every year so far.
Nebraska Red Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 if a very good left sided winger/attacking player came on the market, I am sure he'd be interested. other than that, I reckon he's happy enough. i just wish he'd sell Riise.
growler Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I think Riise is no left winger, so either play Babel there or go shopping. with Ardeboa (sp?), aurelio, Insua, Riise, we are not short at left back.
Smith Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Buy Rob Styles (if Chelsea will sell) We have to wait til next season, He's already played for two clubs this year.

psl Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 we are not getting mikey, that's for sure. Don't think we'd be looking for another striker anyway. Any particular reason for making that comment though?
Pam Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 (edited) Don't think we'd be looking for another striker anyway. Any particular reason for making that comment though? Parry denied it on Radio 5 yesterday morning as the interviewer was trying to lead him into saying Owen would come back one day. I still think we are injury to Carragher or Agger away from serious defensive problems. Hyypia could do a short term job but if we lost either first choice centre half for more than a couple of games we would struggle. a bit of experienced additional defensive cover is needed. RedNik Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Hyypia IS experienced defensive cover. That being said, if arbeloa is our first choice left back, we probably need another back up right back, who could preferably play centre too (seeing that Paletta is gone).

His first choice position. For me he probably isn't strong enough to play there consistently for us, but definitely as a back.
