Claudio Ranieri has taken over as coach of Juventus.

The former Chelsea boss quit Serie A club Palma last week sparking speculation he was set to take over as Stuart Pearce's successor at Manchester City.

But Ranieri has instead stepped into the vacancy left by Didier Deschamps at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

I just hope City don't get a large cash injection from potential new owners and Ramos from Seville. Then we could all have another rival for the top four places.

Like I posted on RAWK.

Juventus wanted Lippi, but he will not get back into football before his son is cleared of the charges in the Calciopoli trial.

Juve went as far as them thinking about appointing a caretaker manager possible their old captain Conte or Ferrara untill Lippi would take the job, possible in September/October. But Lippi could not give them any certain answers so the situation would have been unbarable so they needed to look elsewhere.

When it comes to Deschamps, I think he lost the dressing room to be honest, I guess its difficult to get the respect needed from players that has actually been your teammates earlier, as a manager you will not get the needed authority, and remember he also brought in Boumsong.

Capello would have been difficult because of the fans regarding how fast he left them after the scandal hit last summer, so Ranieri seems like a good option and he will get the respect needed from the players as well.

But it looks like he only will get a two year contract, so I guess Lippi will be an option in the shadows for a while yet.
