Below is a translation of part of Ancelotti's post-match interview today:

Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke about Liverpool following his side's draw against Catania earlier today. "We know Liverpool well. With Gerrard in the middle they are less covered. However with him out wide and Xabi Alonso in the middle they have more cover. Of course I'd like to see the former formation utilised against us. I do not know what formation they played today but we know them very well. Similarly they too know us very well."

There may be truth in this - Milan, with Pirlo, Gattusso, Seedorf and Kaka; are very strong through the middle.

I think Milan and Liverpool are closer in playing styles than people think, we have quite a bit in common, should be an interesting final --- HOPE WE WIN

I'd seriously think about playing all 3 of Momo, Xabi and Masch through the centre, with Gerrard and Kewell on the flanks. Just gives us that bit more stabilty against what is a top class midfield and rampant Kaka.

...........Reina

Finn Carra Agger Riise

.......Mash...Xabi

..........Sissoko

Gerrard.........Kewell

............Kuyt

We simply can't afford to be too scared of them, nor should we be. If they score a lucky goal, we'll find it very hard to score with a lineup like that. Set up to play for 0-0 that.

I remember saying that 2 years ago. "Play Gerrard and Xabi in the middle and go at them" I said, "we've nothing to fear"

That's not really a negative team anyway, it just gives us our best attacking players and goal threats, Kewell and Gerrard, more licence to get forward.

we have not given anything away this season. apart from the barca and arsenal matches, we didn't really show our true form. even against chelsea, we were controlled discipline but weren't devastating. the last few pl matches may give milan the idea it'd be easy for them, at least i hope so. both milan and barca wanted us, remember? chelsea despite their confidence were wary of what we could do, cos we faced them often. we are just difficult to beat in big games. not taking away anything from milan, but barca and chelsea are the more difficult teams imo. rafa will own ancelotti's tukkas 23rd may.

i have heard that before

if he can prove full fitness he WILL start

He looked the fittest player on the pitch this afternoon bar Gerrard..but of couse, his was a fairly short appearance and had two superb shots ..one of the wood and one brilliantly save..or so it looked from the UCent!.He MUST be in line for at least the bench though against Milan.

how?

He was injured in a game coming back about two years ago. Therefore it won't happen again.

In fact on Milan TV they were talking about how Liverpool haven't won a game since the Chelsea match, that we've conceded 3 goals in 2 games etc. The idiot presenter (Pellegatti) probably did not even see our line-ups etc. but he was on about how Liverpool are not in great form, that it will still be difficult for AC Milan, but that having beaten the best team in Europe in Man U they have nothing to fear in Liverpool who are less technically gifted and more similar to Bayern Munich in their style of play.

Milan are no better than they were 2 years ago and are 2 years older, we are without doubt better than we were back then. I just hope our players start the game this time with the right attitude and don't look up in awe of them which is what I think we did last time - and froze - bang! 3-0 down at half time. We've beaten the so-called best team in Europe on their own patch already this season (In our away kit too) so we have no reason at all to go into this match feeling like underdogs and looking up to them, respect for them yes but we are NOT inferior to them. We'll have the majority of the stadium again, we'll be in Liverpool red and if we 'go at them' like we did for a period in the second half in Istanbul we can expose their dodgy defence and goalkeeper. Gattuso is a former Rangers player for gods sake and we've got better players in our midfield - he's good but very over-rated, as for Kaka - well we've got StevieG haven't we? Plenty for them to worry about too.

No Traore to give away a sloppy free kick in the first minute. A younger version of Hamann in Mascherano, a better keeper, a younger centre back, stronger strikers... who are fit.

They don't know us that well. ;)

Ancelotti sounds pretty confident, kinda reminds me of Warnock.
