and if we don't, do Chelsea have to?

Milan and Liverpool are both out of their leagues top 2, so whoever wins gets the automatic group stage entry

If we win, the three english clubs go straight into the group stage draw. Chelsea do not lose out. ;)

Is this right? One team from another league must miss out if this is true. I thought that the 2nd placed team would have to qualify.

WIlliam Gaillard on the radio the other day said that if we won it, we go in automatically along with the two top sides

The holders have a pre-set slot I think, if that's not needed (I.E a team who are already set for automatic group stage entry win it ) it goes to Celtic (Scotland are the highest ranked nation without an automatic qualifier) - but seeing as Milan and Liverpool are both 3rd in their leagues, either club will use it.

Fair enough. Cheers for the info, Sion.

the real question is do we ( if we win) get a fair cut of next years CL money? --- coz we're getting chicken feed compared to Chelsea and Salford Utd

well the % that we get is down to the premier league so they don't care if we win the CL or not. As far as I know, all that matters is the final league placing... as in we still get 15%.

only 2 teams go through automatically from ours, italian and spanish league. If we win, chelsea qualify and we take joint 30% (or is it 40?%)

Precedent is the spanish league when Real Madrid finished 5th and won the CL.

You mean like when Everton finished 4th and like Zaragoza they should've not made it into the CL qualifiers?

Any noises that Celtic might sue UEFA if we win it and the rules are changed again to let us in without qualifying?

The rules have not been changed. These are even pre-2005 rules. Had the FA had any balls and entered us as the 4th Englsish team then, we'd have gone directly into the group stages - as Madrid did on the early 2000's when they finished 5th and won the CL.
