Even though my hatred towards certain Chelsea players and manager runs very high, I have to say that Essien tonight against us was just feckin immense and was awesome from first minute to the last.

 

Didn't look out of place for a midfielder playing at centre back, with some fantastic last ditch challenges.

 

Still a loser though.

He's a brilliant footballer. Plays everywhere for Chelsea without complaining and always does a good job.

 

To be honest he's a bit wasted there playing in holding midfield areas and defence. You watch him play in a freer role for Ghana at international level and realise just how good he is going forward. I actually think he'd be better than Lampard (in current form certainly) in that advanced central midfield position.

 

To think we nearly had him for £4m under Ged...

Drogba can feck right off though, that dive he took in the 1st half where he backed into Agger and the ball bounced up off the pitch and hit him in the face was disgraceful
