Take That to play Diana concert

Take That have confirmed they will play at the Diana memorial concert at Wembley Stadium on 1 July.

The band, who reunited last year, have been added to a bill which already includes Lily Allen and Sir Elton John.

The foursome had to reschedule their time off so they could participate in the gig, which will mark the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death.

Singer Mark Owen said: "Diana was an inspiration to so many people and we feel privileged to have met her."

'Birthday present'

"We decided we wanted to do anything we could to help make Diana's concert one of the highlights of the summer," he added.

The charity concert which will also mark what would have been the Princess of Wales's 46th birthday, has been organised by her sons Princes William and Harry.

They have said they wanted it to be "the best birthday present" for their mother. She was known to be a keen fan of pop music.

The first 22,500 tickets sold out in minutes when they went on sale in December and another 10,000 tickets were released last week.

Rod Stewart, Kanye West, Duran Duran, Bryan Ferry, Joss Stone and Pharrell Williams. have also confirmed they will perform.

The show will be broadcast live to millions of viewers in over 140 countries around the world.
