Yes because our passing game is a joy to watch all the time.

Unfair on our strikers having to deal with so many long balls.

We were just as bad, expect our strikers couldn't hold the ball up at all.

Except maybe? Surely not EXPECT? :bleh:

Chelsea played better than Wimbledon. They harried, hunted in pairs and always had an outlet in Drogba for both long and short balls

Jose got the tactics, and the players the execution, spot on. They spent the 2nd half hoping to draw us on to them and were in control. Gerrard's shot aside, we hardly worked Cech.

We have to do much better and hope Rafa has something up his sleeve for next week.

agree. Chelsea looked like they might score every attack, we didn't.

Poor line up against a team that were there for the taking. Bellamy, Gerrard and Alonso were not creative enough. Zenden and Riise were useless and our defence looked like they were shetting themselves every time Drogba got it. We never looked like scoring.

At least we tried to play football through the midfield and use the width of the pitch (albeit with Zenden).

That was like playing f'ckin Wimbledon, that's all I'm saying.

I can understand starting with Zenden but we really should have brought on Pennant (or Gonzalez) earlier in the second half when the momentum was with us.

With the talent and money at their disposal, Chelsea really should be playing a better style of football than the route-one stuff on display tonight. Rafa's a pragmatic guy and there's always a place for that kind of tactic, but I would expect us to be playing a more attractive style of football when he can afford the kind of talent that Chelsea have.

We were lucky that Chelsea didn't get the ball down and play a bit more, the result could have been a lot worse, imo.

I'll take that, but christ what a way to play football.

If we're going down that road..

And once again we failed to do it against a top side in england, looked totally inept in attack and hoofed long balls for Kuyt and Crouch to scrap on against two of the best defenders in Europe. A little different in a 2 legged affair like tonight but mindless posession in the defensive third and not being able to produce hardly anything when yer a goal down is a lot worse than playing to your strengths.

Agreed that given the resources you'd expect them to play a better brand of football but f*** me it works for them in all situations. Ours is still restricted.
