Liverpool :

average age = 26

average career appearances = 235

Arsenal :

average age = 21

average career appearances = 74

Arsenal had a vastly more inexperienced team out there than we did.

We were the ones that defended like schoolboys!

You have to credit Arsenal and Wenger for scouting these players and developing them so well.

For a 21 year old to have 74 appearances is not inexperienced to me.

Take Fowler, Hyypia and Dudek out Liverpool stats and it would be a fairly low average appearance. These players who are at the opposite end of the scale from most players on show last night i.e at end of careers and are limited in what they can offer.

aye add the 5 year difference in average age at an average of say, 40 games a season, and they'd have actually played more games...or something

I think it means that half the team were very experienced (but old) and the other half was very inexperienced.

Arsenal´s kids have been playing fantastically well in the Carling Cup for a few season´s now. How many of their Carling Cup stars from say three years ago are now first team regulars? Not too many I don´t think. There is no guarantee that the current crop will all make the grade in the long run either.

Yes, that was what i was getting at. Our players who pulled our average age and appearances up didn't offer us. Where as you take Fabregas and Toure their relatively inexperienced players (in terms of age or eppearances) they are at top of their age and bring bags of ability.

Ability can be lost in stats.
