Reina - 7 - solid again albeit one slightly dodgy punch

 

Finnan - 9 - absolutely impeccable. Should have had two assists and I will only criticise Crouchy's performance today for missing two pretty bloody easy headers from two exquisite crosses from Finny.

 

Carra - 8 - bloody ace but not quite as good as...

 

Sami - 9 - imperious. 'Nuff said.

 

Riise - 7- played alright. Supported the midfield well. Got beaten a couple of times on the touchline but Bolton's lack of width and enterprise meant that he wasn't really targeted.

 

Pennant - 8 - a very good game for him. Was giving Gardner all sorts of trouble, linking well with Finny and Kuyty. Some overhit crosses but involved in the goals and worked hard. Looks more confident now.

 

Gerrard - 9 - back to his absolute best. Completely destroyed Bolton out there. Kept it simple when it needed it, drove on at the right times, superb goal from a great team move. Superb performance. Loved his strong header challenge on Gary Speed as an early reducer

 

Alonso - 8 - consistently superb Couple of misplaced passes but stood up well to Bolton's harrying and kept the ball moving intelligently.

 

Gonzaléz - 6 - not a bad performance. He's a clever player, great in the air and just needs to push onto the full back a bit more and take him on.

 

Kuyty - 9 - absolutely fantastic. I was willing him to score and he fully deserved it for his great work in the goals. Hopefully people will stop questioning him now because he's the dog's.

 

Crouchy - 8 - great goal and a great way to respond to being out of the team for a while. Needs to work on his heading from 5 yards but other than that, he showed great touch, worked hard and tackled back. Very good performance. All hail the windmill!

Reina 7 - No need for him to be out there today really, but he did well

 

Finnan 8 - Best player 1st half I thought, and was very good throughout.

Carra 7 - Did well

Sami 8 - Very composed and solid performance

Riise 6 - Wasn't tested at all really, but he was alright

 

Pennant 9 - Maybe his best game for us. Together with Kuyt he bossed the second half and his involvement in the first two goals was great

Gerrard 8 - Faded a bit in the end, but showed lots of energy and scored a great goal

Alonso 8 - Bossed the midfield

Gonzalez 6 - Didn't contribute much

 

Kuyt 9 - Very, very good second half. Involved in everything.

Crouch 8 - Fantastic finish for the goal and played well but his heading is crap

 

Garcia 7 - Did well when he came on, nice assist

Reina - 7 : The usual.

 

Finnan - 8 : Typical Finny performance. Fantastic interplay down the right with Pennant and Kuyt.

Riise - 7 : Slowly finding his feet I hope.

Carragher - 8 : Brilliant.

Hyypia - 8.5 : Notch better than brilliant.

 

Pennant - 8 : Impressive, keep it going.

Gonzalez - 6.5 : Didn't do much but kept working.

Gerrard - 9 : As I said in the match thread, that was like the Gerrard of 2003-2004 + the Gerrard of 2005-2006 in one. Stuck it in to them when he needed to, was disciplined when he needed to be, and ran up when he needed to.

Alonso - 8.5 : Controlled, kept it ticking. Usual Alonso. Also stuck it in to them.

 

Crouch - 8 : Should've had 4, sort out yer heading lad. Great goal though.

Kuyt - 9.5 : MoM. What more needs to be said?

I'd agree with most of that but give Riise a 6. Made some poor decisions, conceeded a needless freekick just before halftime and passing was poor in the firs half - improved when we went ahead.
