I've calmed down now. Fair play to them, mostly d!cked on in the first half they didn't half fight for their fans and manager in the second. Their performance wasn't silk but they gave it everything they had and Football smiled on them as she is wont to do for a team that do all they can.

Thought they were s**** personally.

Me too, for talent, McCarthy stands head and shoulders above the rest of them. Friedel had a great game, but he is a mediocre keeper in general.

Still can't see what we want Neill for when it comes to premiership football.

I was really impressed with them in the second half. Not in a pure footballing sense but I appreciated all the other things they did which you have to do at football.

Summed it up perfectly for me. Tugay, Savage and Pederson were just kicking anything in the second half and getting away with it. I hate to say it but we needed a more anally retentive ref for that match - Riley would have been perfect.

They weren't going to beat us at pass and move so they upped their work rate tremendously and got stuck in. There's room for that in football and not just the sanitiseded version you watch on saturday/sunday nights at the Camp Nou. No doubt when we beat Barca through work rate and defensive organisation and they say we're not honouring football you'll all get your pantyhose tied up again.

Sammya - please note that giving any credit to the opposition is just not the done thing on this forum.

But that's when you need to stand up and kick back.

balls. when it's merited, it's given. blackburn played yesterday like an fa cup tie and the referee was weak. don't see why that deserves any credit, brad friedel aside.

There is a difference between getting stuck in and kicking ever opposition player that is near you. If what they were doing it without fouling then I'd have no problem with it, but they weren't. You are supposed to kick the ball not the player. A strong ref wouldn't have allowed half of that crap to happen.

And when we did kick back we got booked.

The only thing they were good at in the 2nd half was harrying (is that a word?) our players. And sprinting like idiots to close down the ball Savage in particular.

Still they took their chance we didnt take the many we had.

They must be horrible to play against, kick, kick, kick, kick, kick, kick, then theres their c*** of a manager whinging on the touchline non stop. Would like them to go down but its local and we get 7000 tickets so hope they just survive.

In know! That's what I'm giving them credit for. How else were they going to beat us. They dug in and did all that they could. I found that admirable.

Or any forum really , it's what fans do ;)

To be fair to them, other teams have probably played better at their place and not won, lost even. I actually think they were one of the most, if not the most impressive at Anfield last year (they lost), but they were s**** today. If they'd not gone route one, if they had their best out, I think we'd have still beaten them because midfield would have actually been in the game second half
