Mannix becomes our 184th player to go out on loan this year:

Liverpool midfielder David Mannix has joined Accrington Stanley on a month's loan. 21 year old David has been with Liverpool through his school years and moved onto the academy at 16 before signing a professional contract in Christmas 2004.

He has overcome various injury setbacks in recent years but has been a regular in the reserves and is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2007. He is described as a strong but gifted midfield player, can play with both feet and has a great range of passing.

Stanley have fought off competition from a number of clubs interested in securing the services of David, including Championship neighbours Burnley and Preston North End. David will also be available for selection for our match at Grimsby on Saturday afternoon.

Mannix is very highly thought of by all accounts, but the injuries have really held him back severely.

A run of competitive games should do wonders for him - hopefully he can stay fit.

Good move for the lad. It's probably a bit too late for him now at 21 to be getting his first taste of first team action but injuries obviously robbed him of any chances to make the step up earlier. A shame because this lad was VERY highly regarded at the academy when he was 17/18 and was supposed to be a certain future first team player.

He was a great prospect at 14/15. Was playing for the u19s at 15, he had two or three very bad injuries though and barely played for three years. Nobody would fully recover from that.

He's highly rated at the club, so I doubt they'll be looking to sell him. He just needs to be playing at a higher level than the reserves.

His contract is out in the summer, he's gone on loan to a league 2 club, I get the feeling he won't be a Liverpool player next season.

Well, that went well

Mannix injury ends Stanley loan

Accrington's depleted squad has been hit by news that injury has ended midfielder David Mannix's loan spell from Liverpool.

Mannix, who made his Stanley debut at Grimsby after signing just ahead of the deadline, has a knee injury.

Scans have shown the 21-year-old sustained ligament damage and he has returned to Anfield for treatment.

Mannix will not be fit to return for Accrington before the end of his one-month loan agreement.

Shame. Doesn't look like he'll ever have a decent football career with all his injuries.
