Question for those who are criticising Stevie G presently...

...who would you replace him with?

Even with Stevie firing on 3 cylinders, he's still better than half the midfielders in the PL, never those in our squad.

So, go on, who would you replace him with?

There is obviously somthing wrong with the lad at the moment. Hes the best player in the world but at the moment hes not even playing like the best player in gibraltar.

Id love to be able to give him a bit of time off to sort out what ever he has to, but unfortunatly we do not have anyone with momo being out. Zended is a hard worker, but utlimatly a s*** player, and the other cm we have in the squad are not good or experienced enough. And dont get me started on diao!

If we played well, why didn't we win? we had enough possesion. we played ok at best against a team with no ambition. We need to believe in ourselves more, take chances, put the other team under some real pressure.

He did well on Saturday. A couple of delicate passes into the box that on another day would have resulted in a match winning goal. He's probably put himself under a bit of pressure to repeat some of his performances of last season, score loads of goals and be chalenging at the top of the league. It'll take time to repair confidence. He'll be fine soon enough.

I had a dream that I was looking after him on Friday night. He couldn't get any sleep in this hostel where we were staying with all my mates so I took him into another dormitory full of sleeping girls and he slept in there.

My wife seemed to think there was something gay about that dream, much to my annoyance.

Very simplistic. I can remember playing well and not winning on numerous occasions.

Yeah, you could say he played really well if we where in the championship, but we are not, and Gerrard on his day is the best player in the world. He was awfull on saturday.

I know its simplistic but football is a simple game.

We never played well enough to win.

Anyone, unfortunatly his mind is elsewhere, I think he needs some time off to sort himself out, I would rather do without him for a few weeks and have him come back fully focused. The poor lad is not right.

and what if he needs more than a few weeks?

what if he needs to get divorced, negotiate settlement and visiting rights? (just an example of something that could take a while, not saying that he needs to get divorced 'cos I don't know exactly what his plans are)

Do you always win when you play well then ?

I have seen Liverpool batter teams and lose or draw and play some brilliant stuff. Playing well, creating chances and controlling a game does not always result in a win does it, thats football

do you mean on saturday? I thought we had a whole host of chances and on another day we would have scored 3 or 4

Well boro had the best chance of the game did they not. They could say they deserved to win 1-0

I thought Boro created as many chances as we did, anyone can control a game against a team that rarely comes into their opponents half.

I dont know, I though Kuyts chance in the first half was as good

Crouch's 2 headers, Gonzalez in the second half, Kuyts in the first half, Bellamy header blocked, Alonso blazing over from the edge of the area (though he was closed down well by rochemback) vs.............................

I think I've proved my point --- so why don't you lay off the criticism of Stevie unless you can suggest a better option...he's trying his best, I'm sure.

gerrard had a decent game.

yup. That pass he made to gonzo over the defence was sheer brilliance as well.

If Stevie had real problems and wasn't focussed Rafa wouldn't pick him. He may well have stuff going on at home but the main issue is just lack of form I think. If he had big problems surely he wouldn't have gone away with England but would have stayed at home to sort things out?

Jerking and knee

boring. If you're not a super fan, you're knee jerking. b******s

Gerrard has not played well this year. NOBODY can dispute that. I'm not saying sell the guy, but if Garcia had played as bad as Gerrard this season, somebody would be wanting him sold and nobody would be coming back with all this knee jerk b******s.

Gerrard should not be overly critisized but just because he is local does not mean he does not deserve some.
