looks to me like crouch has been working on his heading in training, he's been a lot more aggressive when heading for goal this seaso. that goal he scored last night he wouldn't have scored last season, he seems to be attacking the ball a lot better now. good on him.

He'll bang in a very good header now and then, done it a few times last season as well.

I remember reading an article by Graham Taylor about Crouchy, when he joined us. And Taylor had this to say about Crouch's heading ability of lack of:

"People don't realise this, but when you are as tall as Peter, you're not neccessarily going to be a good header of the ball because playing as a kid he's never had to jump, he's just towered over everyone.

So when you come into the man's game, you haven't got that upper body strength in your spine because you've never used it. He's become a better player because he's learned how to handle his body. "

So maybe Crouchy's spine is finally getting stronger now :D

He seems to live up to his name by actually "Crouching" when he goes up for a header. All he needs to perfect is his timing, power and positioning. Basically needs to perfect being able to header.

He fouls 90% of the time he goes up for the ball. He seriously needs to learn to come powering to the ball. He tend to head it while stood still and doesn't generate that much power. That said he will still get his fair share of headers as he towers above most defenders.

the ball heads him not the other way around, the power of his header always depends on the power of the cross.

with respect mate, that's bolllocks. 90% of the time crouch gets fouls called against him purely because he's taller than the defenders he's playing against, and referees fall for it. a saints fan mate warned me about this when we signed crouch, it just appears as a foul to the ref simply because he's tall. it's ridiculous.

He only makes good headers when he's running into the ball. Doesn't have the body strength to get any velocity on the ball if he's standing still. And I agree, he fouls ALOT. Nearly always putting his arms on the defenders shoulders.

Baby giraffes are well know for having phenomenal neck muscles.
