Shanks didn't want Bob Paisley to replace him ...

Oliver Holt has done it again. He's "written" this book about Feguson and Shanks which is currently being serialised in The Mirror. The tag line being "Tales of Shankly - Told, exclusively, for the FIRST time".

Except they aren't. Told for the first time I mean. And he's got so few "brand new" stories, he feels the need to share Shanks' genius with that alcoholic from down the road.

He's rehashed the old story about Chrissie Lawlor and the Five-a-side game ( "Och, yeh haven't spoken for five years and when ye do, it's a bloody lie!" - Anyone older than 35 already KNOWs this already!

He's told us remarkably that Shanks hung around the training ground after he retired, regretting that he'd done so. - We KNOW this, already!

And then, the pearler - Shanks wanted Jack Charlton to succeed him because he'd won Manager of the Year in 1972/73 by taking Boro into Division One with 7 games to spare. Holt then goes on to say Shanks was surprised when Bob was appointed, and THEN goes on to say that Shanks "changed his story" in his Autobiography to say that Bob's appointment was his idea all along!

Not ONE statement in this lead article was backed up with quotes from anyone, or evidence from anywhere.

In short - Oliver Holt IS A BIG TWOT

He is a bit of a two faced t*** (Holt, that is). I remember him doing a piece about six months ago where he absolutely crucified Beckham for wanting to play centre mid for England, Holt point being that Gerrard and Lampard were far better so Beckham should just stop moaning and get on with it.

The following week Beckams "people" had obviously been in touch because Holt had an exclusive with him in Madrid, from then on he's been so far up Beckams a*** it's unreal - remember the eight page tribute he wrote when Beckham gave up the armband? sychophantic b****** at its' worst.

As for his book, most Liverpool fans know all the shankley stories anyway so I can't see it flying off the shelves.

Holt is a contrary soul. His mother is Eileen Derbyshire, who plays Emily Bishop in Corrie. You can see the resemblance:

This book sounds like a typically opportunistic attempt to cash-in on the interest that the really worthwhile book by Shanks's granddaughter is likely to generate.

NO SIR!!!! You are wrong and I cannot allow this foul calumny agin that man Harry Harris. I happen to know that he is not a c***, as you so immoderately describe him. He is in fact a t***.

Hope that clears up any confusion on the matter.

Must be great to be perfect in every aspect of life (inc. typing). :bleh:

Generally speaking, yes it is.

Though how putting an 'e' into the name Shankly, when it is nowhere near the 'l' or the 'y' on a keyboard, can be classed as a 'typo' puzzles even me somewhat.
