of course he shouldn't worry about paletta or agger. he is one of the finest centrebacks in the world, one of the best we've ever had. simply legendary.

Sami is ace :cooler:

What a signing he's been, one of the best signings any club has made in recent history.

£2.6 mill > close on 400 games, 7 seasons, 1x Champions League, 1x UEFA Cup, 2x FA Cups, 2x League Cups, 2x Super Cups, 1x Charity Shield later - he's still going strong. Hardly any serious injury troubles (touch wood), he's played 50+ games in 5 out of his 7 seasons here, and has missed only a handful of Premiership games in all that time :o

What about going the whole season without a booking in 01 or was that 02? For a central defender who plays week in week out at the top level, that is amazing.

Legend with a capital 'L' and still the current player I admire most.

Even when he lost the captaincy there was no griping or moaning to the press. He just got on with being one of our best-ever centre halves.

I think he's crap

Course you do.

Sami deserves that Premiership medal as much as anybody

Nothing would of pleased me more to see Sami, Didi, Carra and Stevie complete their sets. Unfortunately Didi won't do it but the four of them have been at the heartbeat of the club turning round into the position they're in at the moment.

Staggering that, isn't it? What a superb buy he was.

Regarding injuries, Sami is so rock solid its like he's been carved out of marble; you just can't imagine him being seriously injured! (touch wood) He's only missed one game here and there since signing for the club as far as I can remember.

He gets buffeted and battered by big centre forwards and it hardly seems to affect the big man - he gets a few cuts and bruises round his head, but he just gets them bandaged and carries on.

As others have said, Sami is now in that 'legendary' bracket; a player who, when people look back in years to come at who have been the very best centre-halves to play for the club, his name will be mentioned alongside the Yeats and Hansens.

A wonderful defender, and an absolutely superb professional.

It's scary to imagine how good Sami would've been if he had any pace!

This Paletta story is nice but I thought it was great the way he was so willing to hand over the captaincy to Gerrard a couple of seasons ago. No fuss, nothing. Just got on with his job at the back and 100% support for the manager and player.

This is the PL matches Sami has played since he arrived in '99. Lowest total was 2004-05 where he missed 6 games total :)

In total he has played 249 games out of a possible 266 that's 93,6% of all PL games over 7 years
