We have Peter Crouch, but despite his height advantage is p1ss poor at headers especially with set pieces. Is there a law thats in place that stops a player using his team mates shoulder for leverage? So using our case as an example; Gerrard swings in high corner kick towards Crouch and Hyppia. Hyppia usings crouch hight advantage jumps higher than normal using crouche's shoulder as leverage and guiding the ball to the back of the net with his powerful head.

I posted about this a few months ago, not sure if there is. Forget about using Crouchy's shoulders, if it's not illegal we should lift people like in rugby line-outs.

According to a level 3 ref in our office. The player would be booked for unspotsmanly conduct - resulting in an indirect free kick to the opposition.

This isnt just his opinion, it is a listed offence.

Also if it was legal do you not think the combined minds of all the coaches and managers in the league would have been doing this for years?

Why is it unsportsman like conduct, your using your own team mate? All the players is doing, pusihing against his tema mates hsoulder for extra height and power.

Gary Wolf has seen it in the Ruddian league, so is the law regional?

I don't know why. It just is. Maybe gaining unfair advantage??

What you're saying is like when Terry blocks opposition players in the box on corners - great and effective if you get away with it, but against the rules.

As s**** as the referees are in the prem, the sight of little Luis sitting on Crouchys shoulders in the box is highly likely to be picked up on

It's covered by 'ungentlemanly conduct' as Veggie says. I took a throw in once, threw it at an opponents back and got the rebound.

Ref blew up, free kick for the same thing. I was a bit miffed and had a chat with him afterwards about it and he explained the ungentlemanly conduct thing and that whilst it is open for different interpretation the gist is it's feckin cheating and the sort of thing a manc does not law abiding citizens with consciences.

So this is akin to catching the ball in your jumper (Not touching your hands) running with it to the opposing goal (Tackling you would be dangerous play/high feet) before releasing the ball in front of goal and scoring. Not against the rules, but, is 'cause it isn't gentlemanly conduct.

Right?.

It's often said that he's no good in the air, but the seaon befire we bought him he scored more headers - 7 - than anyone else in the Premiership

Because Southampton got in behind sides and Crouchy wasn't jostling for the ball. He was running onto it. What he isn't very good at is attacking the ball from a stationary position.

We lacked pace wide last season and rarely got to the byline. Some of that and he'll get more goals with both his feet and his head.
