Why do people believe we are going to sign Alves and Pennant?

 

With money tight, I'm pretty sure it's one or t'other. I think a deal has been lined up with Pennant as insurance against it all falling apart with Alves. Otherwise, the Pennant deal would have been concluded by now.

PS my personal view is that Rafa is looking to get, in addition to Aurelio, Gonzalez and Paletta, Alves, one striker, one central midfielder, and possibly a reserve keeper. My gut feel is that funds will not run further and so we might try and get sinama to stay for a while.

For me it'll depend if Kromkamp leaves. If he doesn't Pennant won't be coming. Stevie, Alves and also possibly Anderson will be more than sufficient for the right side.

If they turn out to be good valid players for us... i 'd be happy with Aurelio, Gonzalez and Paletta, Alves, one striker, one central midfielder, and possibly a reserve keeper. i just hope we buy that many. They will globally cost around the 35mill mark even more..... Kewell can play upfront so can Garcia. Kuyt/kewell/garcia /crouch/sinama/fowler with gonzalez and alves supplying ammunition not a bad combo inmho.

I think I'd prefer to sign Pennant ahead of Alves TBH. I don't know if I've mentioned this before but I REALLY rate him. If he can add a few more goals to him game he'll be world class.

I agree in principle with that - they'ed have to shift an awful lot of dildos to keep him in magistrates fines.

 

There are a lot of people on here convinced he's coming though - I don't know why, but I know they tend to be the ones who get to hear the odd bit here and there so maybe it's on.
