  1. This was what was said. I'm sure GD would probably admit he got it a bit wrong though.
  2. 13 shots in the game so far. Doesn't sound like a thriller, that's for sure.

  5. Are you mad? The only thing that can drive the engine of the forum in such a way is bickering, and lots of it.
  6. ..and yet he's very un-inspiring and fills you with trepidation for the upcoming season? Strange mix of emotions you have there.
  7. Well, as an aside, I'd tend to place less importance to what managers do at international level. Capello, for example, is (probably) going to be judged purely on those four games at the world cup. It's too hit and miss. (Not saying he didn't f*** it up mind you). Managers at club level have 60 games a season to make their mark and be judged and can decide what personnel they work with. Anyway, I don't think that many people are getting all that worked up (excluding the "this is the end of the world" types that you can safely ignore). People are just (rightly IMO) disappointed that Hodgson looks like he's going to be our new manager, and are just expressing that view. Doesn't mean he won't get full backing from the fans once the season starts though. Imagine what we'd have said on here 12 months ago if we'd have found out Hodgson was taking over from Ferguson at the mancs? We'd have been over the moon. It's just all so underwhelming; there's isn't that spark of hope within me that normally appears when a new man takes over. We'll see though.
  8. What's the relevance of him being "at the top of his profession" when it comes to the LFC job then, if there are literally a hundred or so other managers who fit the bill? I mean, fair enough, by that criterion Hodgson is clearly at the top of his profession. But then, so what?
  9. You get a perfectly sensible, reasoned reply, and that's what you come back with?
  10. I dunno. Quotes like this one... "Hodgson, 62, who took Fulham to the Europa League final last season, will be consulted over any decision to sell, but can expect to receive only a small proportion of any money raised." .. don't exactly fill me with confidence. It's implying that the scenario where a new manager will receive all the proceeds from sales is unlikely.
  11. I think we've determined that le2red was taking the piss.
  12. These people exist. Don't think for a second that they don't. We'll let you off though.
  13. Indeed. It's a ridiculous assessment. Anyone who thinks Brazil are s*** is, quite frankly, a moron.

  15. Interestingly (or perhaps not) one of the other big failures at this world cup also had a squad made up of players who all played in their home league.

  17. You can't be offiside from a goal-kick. And yes, it's been in the laws of the game for f***ing ever.
  18. Can't now; it's been locked for a month.
  19. Here's a version that actually lets you see what happened
  20. It makes me want to punch the person who put it on youtube rather than Pepe. Actually, thinking about it, it just makes me want to punch Hassony...
  21. And why "don't shoot the messenger"? Surely that's if you deliver bad news? If a messenger turns up and tells you you've won the lottery, you're not going to let him have it at close range with a sawn-off shotgun are you?
  22. Our company is taking us all out to watch the game in a pub and then a meal afterwards. This pleases me.
  23. Two goals isn't a great deal in the context of these two games now. France could properly implode here.
  24. That makes things interesting.
