I think all of you are missing the point. All great strikers miss chances like that. However it doesnt matter because most good teams create more than just one chance. In our case the very fact that you are arguing over the only chance Keane had tells you we create almost nothing for our strikers

why bash on Benayoun and Kuyt. Play them in position and then see how they do.

At what point are people going to question the fact that after years in charge and spending millions we have a team that has no width, no movement to speak of, constantly hoofs the ball and cannot string two passes together. These aren't observations from the past 4 games but have been made by posters here for more than a year now. The blame lies squarely with Rafa and not with Kuyt or any other player. There is a systematic problem here and Rafa needs to sort it out. Unfortunately I've come to the point where I don't believe he is capable of it anymore. There I've said it.

We've been lucky so far. Is this what Rafa is doing in training sessions now? Long balls to no one? We aren't even competing! Where is the passing and grit of Valencia? I don't want us to be gung ho like the mancs but atleast pass the fecking ball to the midfield.

I think the point is that the poor display was enough to get us past Sunderland. However if the past few years are any indicator, we do poorly when it comes to our main rivals where it takes more than a moment of quality from Torres to win the game and more of a team effort. The number of times we pump the ball into forward areas with no movement and no support is simply counterproductive and certainly belies Rafa reputation as a master tactician.

The end does justify the means. However I thought it embarassing that Sunderland actually played a better passing game than we did. We used the long ball too often and completely bypassed the midfield quite often. I had hoped Rafa would work this out of the team but clearly its part of his strategy.

People keep going on and on about how we need to keep Alonso. However, a CM pairing of Alonso and Masch will never win us the league, there is very little goal threat there, poor mobility and very little movement to support the attack upfront. Barry while not worth 20 million would provide some of that.

You mean the same Ronaldinho and Etoo that Pep Guardiola just said are free to leave the club? Dos Santos was let go because he wasn't good enough for them. They are in the market for a striker with some talent now to complement Henry and Bojan. As an aside is Etoo still any good...if so....

A lot of grief is given to those who ask for big money signings but the simple sad truth is that we finally splashed the cash last summer and the results speak for themselves. Of course its no guarantee
